When I was a kid, we had a cleaning service that came by once a week.  I think my parents paid them $50 a week.

We lived in a small town though – we had a two story, 4 bedroom/1.5 bath house.

It’s about 75-85 here in NYC for a large one bedroom apartment. If we did a cleaning service, it would be about 90-95 (including them bringing some cleaning supplies).

every once in awhile we have someone come….it’s a small service but legit and provides references….you provide the cleaning supplies though. they now charge $70 for a large 1 bedroom in NYC. it was $60 when we first used started using them 3 years ago.

@pb and j: Do you mind PMing me that name of the service? 🙂 Sounds like a better deal than what we get!

We pay $60 per week for cleaning of a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in nyc. This includes changing the sheets on two beds, changing out towels, emptying the dishwasher and full scale cleaning. My now husband has been using the same woman for almost 10 years. Now that we are married and have been living together for 6 months, we plan to up it to $80 within the next few weeks as our “mess” has grown. I actually feel bad we didn’t raise the pay from the beginning. We pay this woman under the table, not through a service so I do feel better knowing that she is getting all of the money.

I should add that she is a close family friend who does this for a living. My husband has known her his entire life (he is 38) so it isn’t someone random coming into our home.

Depends on if you are going the CL route or not. Legit businesses charge about what pb and j said. In Brooklyn, it’s about $50 for a smaller 1bedroom but you provide the cleaning supplies. My mum used to use one but she said the lady became lazy so she stopped. It was $75 for a 4 bedroom 2.5bath house. But that was TX. Her mortgage is less than my rent!

@pb and j: I’d love the name too.

We pay $60 for them to clean a 1br apartment (but they don’t do the bedroom) only kitchen, living room and bath. We don’t get the apartment cleaned often enough.

once a week $175 for a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom house, includes laundry, changing sheets, floors, basic cleaning ect. About 8-10 hours of work a week. Our cleaning lady has been working for our family for 10 years+ and also does both of my grandparents houses, my parents, my 3 aunts, and 2 uncles houses.(Her hours vary from house to house) Our family loves her! During the holidays she also comes over and helps set up for parties (which we pay her extra to do)

I live in DC and have used two services.  One (your pampered home) i used for the move out of my apartment and move in cleaning of my condo after renovation…it was $150 for each and they did a great job.

I use a woman recommended to me now who charges us $100 for a once in a while cleaning and $75 per bi-weekly if we chose that route.  We live in a very small condo.  She is very trustworthy and friendly, but doesn’t speak much English so usually we go through her friend to confirm details.  Also, we provide all the cleaning materials (which is fine to me).

I don’t think this is insane, but it IS expensive considering she doesn’t do the laundry and we have to take our dog to day care while she’s over.  If i could get a similar price/trustworthiness/reliability where the laundry could get done and the dog could stay home, I’d be happier.  But we don’t call that often – maybe once every few months – because it’s an expense we don’t need to pay.  I just like a GOOD clean every once in a while.  We used to do it every other week and it was fantastic.

@eupenmalmody: Do you know if she’d is looking for more work and if she’d be willing to travel to the Newport Area of Jersey City? If so, please PM me with information!
