- Wedding: October 2013 - Vine Street Church
My parents move every couple of years, so their house hasn’t been home for a long time.
My home is the house that I own with my husband and has been our home since we bought it in September 2010.

I call both my home with my husband and child as well as my parents’ house “home” depending on the context. More my house with husband and child, but my parents’ house still comes up as “home” on my phone.

Ever since I moved out of my parents house my apartments have been home. When I was in college even though I had my apartment my parent’s place was still home.

Any place I live with my husband is home. His parents’ houses are “your mum’s house” or “my father in law’s house”. Our housemate calls his mum’s house home. I always thought that was kind of weird.

Home is the place that my Fiance and I make a life together. WheN I talk about going to my grandparents house (I was raised by them), I refer to it as their house.

Ultimately “home” will always be the place I live with my partner, especially the place we just moved into because it feels so homely! That’s what I selected.
While at the same time my partner says “home” in regards to the house he grew up in (now his parents have moved but he still talks of his old house as home, says the new place is home as well but hasn’t actually been there so it’s more of “where his parents live”)
I still call my house I grew up in as home as well. If my parents ever move back here back to that house it will be home for me.
When we eventually buy our own place it will become home, but our parent’s homes are always going to be “home” as well to us 🙂

@Bunny_the_Bride: Home is my Dad’s house. Not that I don’t call my own apt. home. If I say I’m “going home” I mean my Dad’s house. I’m 36 and I haven’t lived at my Dad’s house since I was 18, but it’ll be “home” until the day I die.

DH and I just bought a house, so I call that our home. But I also call my parents’ house home, cause that’s where I spent my whole life.
