OMG, people never cease to amaze me!
Someone once said a very generic response for almost any of these situations is: “Wow, I really can’t believe you just said that!”
I’m not sure it’s bitchy enough, considering what some of these comments deserve, and I know it’s not very witty, but I’m not one of those people who can quickly respond when someone says something rude or innappropriate; I’m always standing there with my mouth open or trying not to cry, lol.
Anyway, to that realator: “That comment showed some poor professional planning, didn’t it!”

@bloodgo1: I heard a ton of rude things while pregnant with my daughter and my go to response was “wow that was inappropriate” while not breaking eye contact.
Congrats on your pregnancy 🙂

Wow. I’m sure it was meant as a joke, but I’m also sure you don’t have that kind of relationship with the parent’s of your students. I would have been offended too, but what can you say to the parent? Just standing there dumbfounded is probably the best response.

People are ridiculous. I blame hormones but things like that really bother me too. The only thing I’m gaining from their rude opinions is to personally think more about what I do and say. I can’t believe how many people have commented on my weight, I had no idea my body would become a free for all. Not sure why I’m even wearing clothes at this point.

I’ve seen some rude stuff in threads like this that talk about all the nasty things people say to pregnant ladies, but that takes the cake BY FAR. That is shockingly offensive, and from a parent?! I would be pissed if my closest girlfriends said that as a joke — and believe me, my friends and I have very tease-y relationships with each other. I do not get offended easily. I hope you ripped her a new one.

That is SUPER inappropriate! I’m a teacher too, and it’s so tough to walk that professional line when parents don’t. You almost can’t say anything back.
I haven’t had anything super rude yet, but I’m so tired of the “wait until she’s a three and a terror” or a teenager, etc. Can’t you just be excited for us please?

I’ve had a male relative call me “Ragu.” I asked if he meant Prego and he said, “No, Ragu, you know, thick and chunky,” and I just said, “yeah, I’m pregnant, what’s your excuse?” That shut him up.
