In the 80’s the had balloon sleeves, in the 90’s those balloons turned into lace sleaves. What would you now say is the biggest wedding dress trend, after spending a day wedding shopping I would say the mermaid dress or the super droppes waist a-line that looks almost mermaid.
What do yout think will we look back on as a wedding dress trend of the day?

@radar: Color. I think that dresses in colors other than white or ivory have become a popular trend.

very true, just about every dress comes in Ivory or white and every brdal store has the ivory to try on and they all urged me to get ivory lol.

I would say color too. For some reason all the stores I’ve seen have this peplum thing going on (for bridesmaids mostly). Come on no one can look good in that! (no offense to any peplum lovers!). Also ruffles and big statements on the bottom.

Strapless and strapless sweetheart in particular.
Mermaid dresses with ruffles on bottom.

I think sheer or lace back is very in this season. Also the lace cover up that covers your shoulders and gives you the illusion of a lace top.

Can’t tell you what’s new this year, but so far I’ve found that the following are popular, either separate, or mixed together :
Sparkly/Glam – Either from sequins, beading or sashes.
Ruffles – I’ve seen ruffles all over the place! And I love them!
Strapless – Very IN! I think I can count maybe 5 or 6 dresses I’ve seen with straps, maybe 1 with sleeps!
Coverage Options – And because of the strapless, many brides are opting for cover ups. Either jackets, lace shrugs, or even fur ones.
Mermaid/Trumpet – Very in
LARGE Poof Ballgown – Seen plenty of these!

strapless. and soooo much ruching/gathering/pickups.
lace up backs are popular with the bridal shops because they can pull the laces tight and say ‘oh my god! it fits perfectly! it’s like it was made for you!’

Ruching! I didn’t care for how it looked on me (I know it is supposed to make you look slimmer, but I found it bulky), but it seemed like nearly every dress had it when I was dress shopping.

Mermaid gowns and lace seem to be pretty trendy right now…and sweetheart necklines. I kind of feel like sweetheart necklines and lace can be timeless though, even though they are super popular right now.

Mermaids/trumpets are very “in” right now.
So is colour, and blingy belts (if that’s a thing).

@radar: I’d definitely say mermaid style, lace and scandelous swoop backs. And cocktail dresses are starting to pop up too!

STRAPLESS STRAPLESS STRAPLESS
in almost every wedding I’ve photographed and EVERY bridal salon. They are all strapless. :/
