@notestasiskis: Do you know what kind of stone will be in it? That might narrow it down a bit…

The first thing that sprung to my mind was the Amora Gem.

This is the amora gem. I thought of it because it isn’t currently available, but there is some legal action going on to try to make it available before the moissanite patent runs out.

Oooh sounds exciting!

My FI definitely had wait times that were out of his control.

He had very specific specifications for a diamond he wanted, it took him forever to find the right one (it involved him travelling to different cities and everything), and then also to find a jeweler to give him a good price for us. THEN, when he knew the exact stone and the exact jeweler he was going to buy it from….he still had to wait on the edge of his seat because between the time he had first looked at that diamond and when he had found a jeweler he wanted to work with who could get him that diamond…. the diamond in question had been shipped off to Hong Kong because someone was interested in it there! (It was actually kind of cool, because when Fiance finally was able to walk away with the stone to take it to an independent appraiser, the envelope had written chinese characters on it too, and he had seen this envelope before, and it only had hebrew characters on it before that. The chinese characters turned out to be the name of the store it had shipped to in Hong Kong. Anyway, our stone seems so “worldly” now to us, LOL!) Luckily the people in HK didn’t buy it by the time FI’s jeweler called that stone back to his location, or he would have had to search for a new stone all over again.

That was just the diamond, don’t even get me started on the setting. Our was a custom setting, so we didn’t have to wait for something to become available in that case (though he definitely had to wait for a phase of it to be made, go down and see it, provide feedback, wait again while they made the new design, etc), but yours might be a brand-name setting. Maybe there’s a very particular one he has his eye on. That also takes time where it may have to be tracked down and sent in. Or maybe he’s waiting for it to be resized…

Really, there are so many parts of the ring process that can cause the guy to have to wait even though he’s raring to propose… but it’s alright, anticipation just makes it even better and eventually it’ll all come together and it will be totally worth it! Laughing I’m excited for you!

Honestly, I think you should NOT try to figure it out!  It sounds like he’s up to something and that “something” is probably a wonderful surprise for you!  Let him do it. 🙂  I’m glad my husband let me pick out my engagement ring myself but there are times when I do wish that he had surprised me.  I’d be very interested in seeing what he would have picked out on his own!
