slomotion :  Heyyyyyyy

disbeeprincess :  Thank you for explaining things so well.

You have to get to the point where it doesn’t matter to you what other people think, and it certainly doesn’t cause you to question your own choices. Jewelry is a very individual thing.

sunburn :  Understandable. I’m new (*as a mod) and still learning. Won’t happen again.

Tisa85 :   MrsGirlyGirl :   claroquesi :  Sorry I forgot to tag you all in my response to sunburn. That was unprofessional of me, and I’m still learning as a mod. I will do better and it won’t happen again.  I guess getting frustrated at times comes with the territory, and I’ll have to leave my frustration out of my posts. My apologies!

DrAtkins :  Just gotta say…you responded to that very well. It’s a learning experience and I’m sure you’ll get lots of support here.

This moissanite vs diamond thing will never end. It’s been going on for years and I don’t think its gonna stop anytime soon. I’ve actually just recently learned how to distinguish moissanite vs diamond in pics because I learned what to look for. In all honesty, if it was real life, I probably might not even be able to distinguish the difference. Sparkle is sparkle!

OP, there must be a reason why you chose that stone in the first place. Your friend seems to be trying to push their opinions on you but go with your gut. It’s a lovely ring!

OP – feel free to tell your friend to butt out and mind her own business…no matter how much she “cares”. To be honest what she is doing sounds extremely rude, unnecessary and insulting to both you and your fiancé.

You love your ring, that’s all that matters.

But for what it’s worth, I too think it’s lovely. I love ovals.

bakerbee09 :  I think your ring is lovely but you have to be happy with it. Dont concern yourself with how others feel about your ring because you never know their true motives. As long as you look at it and love who cares what others think? It’s a symbol of love and that’s what matters.

TheGridMonster :  Wow I have never seen this cut by AV…very pretty and you are right the cut looks very much like the moissanite the OP has.

For her to say it looks “splintery” and not like a diamond, it sounds like she’s very familiar with moissanite and diamonds. That is not a comment or thought that would come from everyday people who happen to glance at your ring. However, I think it’s stunning! It looks like a starburst and a lot prettier than some of the diamond oval rings I’ve seen with bowties. No offense, but I’m just not a fan of bowties in ovals and pears. I would never allow the comment from someone else to make me change what I like. You can get a diamond and then there will be people thinking it’s too big, small, etc. There is not one thing on this earth that will please everyone.

bakerbee09 :  smart move. Are you going to try a crushed ice moissanite, or an actual diamond/gemstone?

bakerbee09 :  It’s understandable to want a nice ring, I get that.  Be careful though as you may set the standards too high and never find that perfect ring.

bakerbee09 :  I’m sure you’ve gotten all of the responses you need but in any case, it’s a beautiful ring. The first oval I ever fell in love with was a moissy solitaire and probably what I would have chosen if I had gotten a say. 💗 Sooo gorg!

bakerbee09 :  What have you decided to get since now you want something different?

I will echo a PP in saying that you may never find the perfect ring.  Nothing in life is ever perfect so don’t put that pressure on yourself.

I also think if you get another moissanite you’re going to be disappointed, especially since you started with a diamond.  You’re naturally going to compare every stone to it, and they won’t look the same. Ever.  So I think you really need to be honest with yourself.  If you go with another moissanite are you always going to be subconsciously comparing it and wanting it to look like a diamond?  If you’re going with a larger size, which is sounds like you did because you like the finger coverage it provides, they look less diamond like than smaller sizes.  I also think if you keep changing out your ring before you’re even engaged it comes across as being materialistic.  I get wanting to love your ring, but you have to just bite the bullet.

Edited to add – I have an oval diamond engagement ring.  I also saw a couple of different kinds of oval moissanites, both the splintery kind like the one you’re returning and the crushed ice ones.  I ordered cheaper ones off eBay and more expensive ones.  I returned all of them because I was hoping they would look like an oval diamond and none did.  A couple of them were very dull with no sparkle at all, and these were branded ones (I don’t want to call any of the brands out because I may have gotten duds).  Bottom line I bought into the hype seeing all the glowing posts here and I was disappointed.
