You mean like asking friends to come out a celebrate together?  For a dinner?  Or at a comedy club or something? What’s wrong with it?

Any excuse to get together with friends is valid, In My Humble Opinion. As long as they’re not being gift grabby.

I mean, if an adult hands out a gift list then that is icky, but otherwise, it IS their birthday, I think it is fine to plan their own. To some people birthdays are important. I haven’t celebrated mine with anything more than dinner with Darling Husband and a couple friends or my parents since I turned 18 but I don’t see anything wrong with someone else wanting to have a party.

I think it’s totally fine. There’s nothing wrong with being in the company of friends and celebrating together

My husband wanted a laser tag party for his 35th. It. Was. EPIC. Soooo much fun. I think it’s a great excuse to get out there and do something special!

Well, I am still always up for cake and free food, so if they want to organize and provide that for me, far be it from me to stop them!

I think its fine!!! i would never do it, only because I have mild anxiety issues and don’t like having atention on me, But, my friends do this, and I think it works, and is a fabulous idea. I love celebrating my friends’ bdays. Could care less if they planned it themselves.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. If there’s one day you’re allowed to be self-indulgent, it should be your birthday!

Why on earth would this be a bad thing? Anyone who doesn’t want to go doesn’t have to, more cake for everyone else.
