- Wedding: December 2012
My Fiance and I are writing our own vows and I would love to see what you think of mine. We are going to read our own vows, then do the traditional I Do section so that it will give me the feeling I want that we are really married now. I guess some people call the personal vows “statments to each other” but same difference.
I’ve read that vows should be about 1-3 minutes. I timed myself and this comes in just under 4 minutes.
(here they are, please let me know what you think.)
And in this life, I was loved because of you*** (special quote we share). How hard it is to express the simpletest thing, my love for you. There is no denying that I have come to love you on a deeper emotional level then I ever thought possible.
I don’t rember the exact day we met, but I know where we were. Was it a fairytale meeting, of course not but it was special. Looking back, I remember that I always wanted to be near you, that I would get excited whenever I saw you. Our love and friendship was not instantaneous but, I think that is why we will always be together, because our love is based on a true friendship and respect for each other.
We have been through so much in our four years as a couple. You have stood by me through a huge obstacle in my life and I do not know if I could have made it without you. I will never forget how you held my hand all the way home from St. Michaels. Together we made it through a mess that we now call home and I know, if we can make it through two dumpsters and all that work we can make it through anything.
There are so many things I love about you. Your smile, the way your laugh sounds when you find something to be really funny, it’s contagious. Your heart is overflowing with love, loyality and compassion. Your eyes amaze me, the way they sparkle, and their beautiful blue color. The way they change from blue to green, it’s like a surprise every time I look at them.
The cards that you buy for me for no reason melt my heart. It’s always a fun surprise to see if I get the big Jen or the little one. You do the sweetest gestures, the way you literally took the T-shirt off your back to cover me when I slept, to me; those things mean more than anything money can buy. Whether you know if or not, you endeavor to make me a better person, because you are who you are, you inspire me to be more open, less shy, more loving in a real way, I love the way you open me up to trying new things, always trying for more.
Where ever our lives may take us, I know that I will always have what is really important. I am not sure what jobs you and I will have in twenty years, but I hope for us that they will be enjoyable and that we will be secure and comfortable with what we have. I don’t know what state, what town or what type of house we will live in, but I do know what as long as you live there and as long as I can see your face when I come home, that will be all I need.
I promise to always appreciate you as my best friend. I will dedicate my life to you in the best way I can. I will make our relationship my #1 priority. Nothing means more, nothing will come before it. I will strive to be open and honest with you, no matter how hard it may be. I promise to always be there for you, supporting you in whatever venture or path in life that you want to take. I will be your #1 fan, your supporter, and your sounding board. I promise to take care of you in any way that I can and anyway that you need. I will be there to comfort you when the Jaguars lose, which we all know they will but I will also be there to cheer with you when they win, if it ever happens, unless of course they are playing the Steelers. I promise to keep the spark alive in our relationship even if it means throwing away the sick shorts and your white t-shirts. I will make it my goal to make sure you know how much I love you. I will probably never let you go to bed without giving me a kiss but I promise to try and let you leave when you need a little time because I know you love me and that you will come back. I will be faithful, loyal and honest with you every day for all of my life.
There are not many things in life that I know, and I am no Shakespeare but I know that when I am not near you, I want to be. Even though you challenge me to be a better person, I know you love me for who I am. I want to marry you because whenever I am challenged with something in life, I want to succeed so that I can make you proud, make you happy. I want to marry you because when I take my last breath, I hope I am able to have you there to hold my hand and hold me tight.
I love you my babies (something we say to each other) so much and I am proud to be your wife.
