I think it’s cute… I’ve come across one girl named Lyric and she was super sweet.

I don’t like it, sorry 🙁 it just sounds a bit harsh to me.

Cute for a little girl, not so sure it ages well.  I can’t personally imagine a 65 year old Lyric.  It also fails the “presidential” test for me, but might not for others.

Tutti80:  I’m usually SO against unusual names but for some reason i’m fine with this one! I’ve never heard/seen it used before, but it seems sweet and girly! when it comes to ‘different’ names this would have to be one of the best i’ve heard!

I like it but I immediately think of a no-name celebrity like Tori Spelling trying to think of a creative unusual name for a baby. Sowwy.

It’s not a horrible name, but in my opinion it’s not a great one either. If your daughter was to become successful in anything other than show business (CEO or something along those lines) do you think she’d be happy with her name? Would you, if it was your name? “CEO Lyric Lastname”. Sorry, I just don’t see it.

“Doctor Lyric” and “President Lyric” don’t sound right. So, it has failed the test for me. It isn’t atrocious, but it isn’t good either.

Tutti80:  Like a song lyric? Eeeek. Well, I work at a school (I recruit and enroll students) and I have seen a number of strange names…and Lyric would probably have to go in the “strange” pile to be honest.

While it may sound “cute” to you now, you should really think about how your child is going to feel when people might make fun of it or how she is going to feel as an adult with that name. Personally, I wouldn’t want a name that sounds cute for a two year old, but rather one that will work for an adult as they grow and establish themself.

I once pitched the idea of naming a future daughter Lyric to my husband because that is actually a mixture of both of our first names.  He shot it right down.  And I now agree that it’s too cutesy sounding for anyone to take seriously when the kid grows up.
