We’re planning to start TTC next year and talk about names allll the time, which makes the wait that much harder! So here’s our names so far:
Ones we agree on: Boys – Brody, Colton, Trenton, Bentley and Girls – Briley, Aubrey, Cali, Kennedy
Ones Fiance likes but I don’t: Braxton, Maverick, Lincoln, Kendrick, Jackson
Ones I like that Fiance doesn’t: Braeden and Beckham (they aren’t manly enough:/)
We want three or four, middle names picked out for boys. So are they okay or the worst names ever? lol I promise I won’t be offended. What are you top name choices? Did you end up using names that you discussed prior to TTC?

@MrsN14: I think Brody and Colton are okay. Lincoln is fine. Aubrey and Kennedy are fine. I really dislike Briley, I don’t like the way it sounds OR looks. Braxton, Maverick, Kendrick, and Braeden are awful.

I’m sorry if this is harsh, but I’m really not a fan of most of the names.
Briley sounds like you couldn’t decide between Bailey and Riley. It also sounds 100% made up. I don’t like the spelling of Cali – it’s like the state slang for California. Callie is the normal way of spelling it.
Trenton is a state capital, not a name. Bentley is a car manufacturer.
I guess what it boils down to, is that I like names that are actually names, not taken from other things.

Outside of Aubrey, they are all so trendy and too “try hard” imo. I feel like everyone is trying to name their kids such unique names, yet they’re all the same/same sounding.

@abbie017: really? I know 5 girls named Briley, maybe it’s a regional thing. Def not harsh though!
We actually like the Cali spelling because we both have bleach blonde hair and thought it was cute haha kinda different for the Midwest though

Cali, only spelled Callie, is really the only one that is my style. But congrats on at least getting a list you can both agree on, it isn’t always easy!

They all sound like someone from Teen Mom named them.

@MrsN14: I’m not too keen on any of your boy names….if I had to choose one I guess I would say Trenton. For the girls, the only one I like is Aubrey, the rest are too young/cutesy or trendy. I’m pregnant now and we both like classic, traditional names that aren’t too trendy right now, although old-fashioned/classic names are definitely back in style!

Never ask for opinions on names! Especially from people who don’t mind giving you the straight truth!
My neice is named Briley. That is a very long list to choose from! Sound like you have a lot of options which is great. I only like one girls name and if my Fiance doesnt agree to it I’m going to slip him into a quick coma.

@abbie017: +1 I don’t like names which are places. I tend to like old fashioned names. But you could always save a safer name for the middle name so they have a choice!

@jj0313: That’s why I ask, because our families will say “yeah, that’s great” then they’ll really be thinking “that’s the worst name I’ve ever heard’ lol but they’d never say it. Except FI’s little sister (15) who let us know she is strongly against Brody lol It did take us a longgg time to find some to agree on though!

Briley reminds me of a Brillo pad for some reason. I think some of the names are a little too trendy, but to each their own.

The only name I like in your lists is Colton. I knew one when I was a kid, he was nice!
I also knew an Aubrey, who is also nice, I just don’t like the name. I also knew a Brody who no one liked (teased “Grody”).
The rest are very trendy and remind of the Teen Mom names.

@whoa_its_ash: +1, harsh but true.
Brody is a dog’s name.

Brody, Cali, and Maverick are dog’s names. Briley and Bentley are TOO trendy.
