I was just looking at the thread about which wedding decisions have shocked bees’ guests, and nearly everyone mentioned wearing colored shoes. I knew that some brides did this, but didn’t realize it was so ubiquitous. I was just going to wear white shoes…is this outdated or tacky or something? I’ve never understood women’s obsession with shoes in general and so I’m not even spending a ton of time on them. I mean, they won’t even be visible, right?
What do you all think of wearing plain white shoes? Something simple like the ones below:

i actually like your shoes. It’s all in what you want. You don’t have to wear colored shoes if you don’t want to.

I don’t think white shoes are outdated at all! I think coloured shoes are becoming more popular because brides want to be able to wear their shoes to other events later and you don’t tend to have a lot of occasions where you can wear white shoes.
I love the shoes you posted though. Very classic!

I wore plain white shoes. I really think it depends on your style and your dress. If I would have worn colored shoes, everyone would have seen it, since my shoes showed with my dress, and I don’t think that would have looked good. I think if you have a poofy dress where your shoes don’t show except every now and then, then colored shoes are cool, they just didn’t work for me. I really like that picture too! Very cute!

I think that the colored shoe thing caught on super fast as a fun trend and I’m sure it’ll become the norm, but I definintely think that if you want to wear white shoes, you should wear white shoes! I don’t think it’s dated as long as they aren’t a dated style. I have no idea what that means now that I’ve typed it, but the shoe you posted is classic.

I don’t think they’re outdated. I’ve seen some gorgeous pairs!

lol… Your shoes are beautiful. I actually wore white shoes that matched my dress too… my dress did not lend itself to colored shoes, and also, I kinda felt like everyone was wearing colored shoes…and I wanted to be different and wear white ones!

If that’s what you want then wear them. White shoes are considered traditional. The style certainly is not outdated. Pick the style and trends you want to follow and let everyone else do their own thing. If you want to get technical though, the only time your guests will ever see your shoes is if you are wearing a short dress and/or when your groom lifts your skirt for the garter removal. Anyone who gets that upset that your shoes are not traditionally white has no business attending since they are there for the wrong reasons.

I think the shoes you picked are great! Lol Anyway who cares if everyone else is wearing colored shoes, I thought about it but decided on white for myself too (well Ivory b/c my dress is Ivory). I think I want to wear white, ALL WHITE (Ivory) b/c I’m the bride baby!

I love the ones in your picture. I think white shoes are classic (like pearls are classic) – not on-trend or “totally right now” but definitely never out of style (as long as they are “cute” white shoes LOL).

The shoes in your picture are really cute! I think it’s like any other trend in the blogosphere, we see it a lot because we look at it. In real life, most brides still wear white/ivory/silver.

Zippylef makes an excellent point. What seems to be “overdone” to the wedding planning community due to blogs, etc is completely novel and unheard of to everyone else. Unless each of your guests are also planning weddings and frequenting those same blogs, then any of those “overdone” trends you choose to use will be considered unique to them.

Nah, not outdated. I’m wearing plain ivory shoes. It’s just going to match better with my dress and everything else.

i think those shoes are pretty! personally (no offense to anyone, especially because i also follow trends, i’m on the short dress trend!) i think colored shoes are a trend and it’ll eventually be out. it was a trend i decided not to follow. i went with ivory to match my dress. i want my shoes to be classic!
