Wow! I had no idea that some people associated princess cuts with trashy/cheap people! Yikes. 🙁 That’s a bummer, but I love my princess solitaire. I was always drawn to them, but that could be because both my grandmother and my mother had princess cut rings, and I always thought they were both classy ladies that I wanted to emulate.
I actually LOVE emerald and cushion and rounds… but when I tried them on they made my man-hands looked terrible. The sharp angles of the princess distract from my ugly hands.
My advide is: even if you drool over a certain cut on WB, try it on, because it may not suit your hands. I see so many gorgeous rounds on here, but I know they’d just make my fat fingers fatter.

I have a princess cut engagement ring and although I love the way it looks, practically speaking, I don’t like it. I am constantly catching things on it, and I’ve scratched my babies with it while changing diapers.
I love love love asschers. Wish I had this instead!

stokesto: to be clear, I don’t think people who have princess cuts are cheap or trashy – but I was entertained by the snookie description when I googled and saw she did indeed have a princess.
I’m not drawn to princess cuts, but a beautiful ring is a beautiful ring! Agree that you have to try them on to see what looks best on you 🙂

stokesto: Rounds also make my fat fingers look fatter. I enjoy them so much on other people though.

Well now a particular diamond cut can be seen as trashy and tacky and have some implications other than “this is the cut I like”, now ain’t that some shit. I disagree, I like square cuts a lot (more than rounds anyway, too overdone). They don’t look particularly edgy or trendy to me, they just look… idk, square

You say they are boring, I say they have an understated elegance. I love the princess cut diamond ring my husband picked for me. Its simple but beautiful.

I like them as solitaires. They look like ice cubes.

I don’t personally like them, I truly never have. I think the cuts are too blunt and boring. I’m more of a classic circle or cushion kind of girl.

I think they are very 1990’s…and I’m not a fan.

I think dragging up two year old threads to call diamonds other people love outdated and boring is distasteful myself.
