When I got engaged to my first husband (early 2000’s) I REALLY wanted a princess cut. I ended up w/ a marquise. (Which I wasn’t thrilled w/ back then, I thought that cut was dated). Then later when I upgraded, I choose a radiant cut, which I still love very much.
FFwd some years later when I got divorced and re-engaged, Fiance insisted I choose my diamond and setting. I strangely enough chose a round, although I HATED them when I got engaged to my first hubs. Tastes change over time. 😉

bibbithebee: I love ALL square cuts. I prefer ones that are softer around the edges — cushions, asscher, or princess with the sharp corners lopped off (which are hard to find).

I love my princess. It’s the perfect ring for me. “Sexy and sporty 😉 everyone has their own taste at the end of the day…

MrsKing212: three stone round is my favorite! Biased since it’s what I have but I have been engaged for 11 months and still can’t stop staring at it!

I can appreciate a big princess cut solitaire with lots of finger coverage. I personally have never considered one but I wouldn’t mind at a 1.5-2.0+ carat princess cut. The facet pattern doesn’t sparkle much and you can get more bang for your buck with other cuts if you are buying a smaller stone.

thelibrarylady: love the name! & I also love (and have a) kite setting.
I used to think I hated squares, but I actually have a square now. It is kind of a cross between an asscher and princess, as it is a step cut square.I don’t like when they look too pointy, but I think my bezel makes it look softer and not so harsh.

bibbithebee: I love square cut diamonds!! However, I prefer cushion to princess because I love the sparkle that a round cut diamond has, and I feel like a cushion comes the closest to imitating that sparkle. I think Princess cut is very classy, but since I’m a fan of sparkle and fire and rainbows, I wouldn’t personally get one.

Princess cut is pretty but does not look good on my finger. I prefer round cut and then oval.

I’m not always a huge fan of Princess Cut, but the right combination and setting could sway me to almost anything. There are definitely some beautiful ones on this board that are making me see the appeal to the corners and angles that this style offers 🙂

I think all cuts are pretty in some way! I personally love them. I always wanted one since I was a little girl and never changed my mind. My husband got a really good diamond so I have no idea about the cheaper cut ones but my dia has a ton of fire ! Love love it. I really am attracted to all square shapes just a preference. I don’t care for them as wedding bands though.

I personally don’t like square cuts either. Square cuts look too harsh to my eye.

While I adore emerald and asscher cuts princess cuts have negative connotations for me and I really dion’t care for them.

bibbithebee: I have a princess cut, upgraded from a round. I love it! For me, it looks stunning even in smaller stones. For my stone specifically, I love the way the cut looks and the prongs at the corners. I find it to be very classy and I prefer it over ascher, but that’s just my taste

bibbithebee: I prefer princess cut over round personally. I like the square shape, but I do feel like the diamond looks smaller with a princess cut compared to a round.
