I like it. The only thing it made me think of was the Nirvana song Polly. Now that everyone mentioned it, the song did have the line “Polly wants a cracker” but not having grown up in the US I didn’t even get that was a parrot joke.
Pauline is also a very pretty name.

I think of parrots also but do you think your husband doesn’t like it because it’s waaaaay too close to the “Molly” that you’re trying to stay away from? Changing one letter doesn’t always solve the problem.

I like it! I think its super cute!
And i didn’t think of polly want a cracker at all. plus, that isn’t a common phrase anymore, kids aren’t going to catch on.

I’m not a fan of Polly…I thought Polly Pocket or Polly want a cracker. I think Holly is very cute though.

I like it a lot. It’s old fashioned and sweet.

It makes me think of Polly in Fawlty Towers, and she is great!

I like Pauline, Polette,Pollyanna, and Paula better. Polly just makes me think of irritating Pauly Shore and parrots, to be honest.
But to be fair, it’s a lot better than SOME of the names I’ve heard lately. (Ruger? REALLY?)

I like it because I’ve never actually met anyone named Polly. I think it’s wonderfully unique.

I love it – I also love Pauline and Paulina.

I dont hate it. I like Holly better. I also heard the name Lolly recently- short for Laura or Lauren, which i thought was adorbs

I really don’t know what I think of it. In theory I think it’s a sweet name but I don’t know if I would actually name my daughter Polly. What would you use as the middle name?

I am one that thinks of they whole “polly want a cracker thing” but if you love that name go for it! and shoot, by the time your child get to the age where she would care about what peers think of the name, the children probably won’t even know about the cracker thing.

I don’t care for it. I keep thinking “Polly wants a cracker”

@GoldfishPie: my name’s polly, and i was never teased for it. i like my name, to be honest. i only got the whole ‘Polly Want A Cracker?’ thing when i was little, and it didn’t bother me much. Honestly, i don’t think a name can dictate your future profession.
