    I love the idea.

We are thinking of having a basket of pashminas in different colors at the entrance to our ceremony since it’s an outdoor ceremony in late Sept in Maine. We’d want a cute sign with them to say something about taking one to keep warm during the ceremony and after.

Do you have guests that don’t celebrate Christmas? Hubby and I have been to a few weddings where the favor is an ornament, and then we have nothing to do with it and end up leaving it b/c we’re Jewish. Also, I’d try to make sure that no single guys get stuck with the pashmina.

I like the ornament idea A LOT… I agree it would be tough if some guests don’t celebrate Christmas, but something like a snowflake can be put anywhere in the house, not just used as an ornament for a Christmas tree.  I’d probably like the ornament more than the pashmina myself though 🙂

I’d say wait until you get the RSVP list and then shop appropriately. Adorable idea and very thoughtful!

The snowflakes sound adorable..especially with that special story behind them. I agree with @europomme that a snowflake doesn’t really have to be a Christmas ornament…I’d think of it more as a winter time favor. Great idea…and personally I love pashminas!

I think both of those are excellent choices. The snowflake idea is incredibly cute. I would almost stick with that since the women will probably have enough scarves. The ornaments are something that is unique to you as a couple and the story is great. But I wouldn’t say no to a scarf either. 😀

I would love both of those as a guest. Some people will argue that the ornament is offensive to those who don’t celebrate Christmas, but snowflakes are not religious or restricted to a single holiday either. What you are planning is very generous and most guests should enjoy and appreciate them.

i think the ornaments are sweet and plenty by themselves…wouldn’t bother with the pashminas, personally

The pashminas are kind of dangerous. I mean, it only works if you have an equal number of men and women at every table. I would stick with just the ornaments.

I also think a snowflake is generic enough to be considered secular instead of religious. Although you should know the folks attending well enough to have an idea if they’ll see it the same way or not.

I think the pashminas are a really great idea but I think the ornament would be enough. Some women arent’ scarf wearers no matter what the weather so it could go to waste on some. I wouldn’t spend the money if I didn’t have to.

I think that if you do the ornament idea, you should attach a little card telling the story you just said. I think it will make it more special to the guest, and will tie nicely into your winter wedding.
