Cute idea if you were having a less formal wedding.  I think the 2nd are beautiful!

Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this. Personally, I’d throw the coaster in the bin unless it was for my best friend or a very close family member’s wedding. Why do I need your wedding paraphernalia decorating my home? But at the same time, I’m sure some people would think it’s an adorable idea and would actually use the coaster. Point being you cannot please everyone so just pick something YOU like and don’t worry about what others think.

We did a typical card stock save the date that didn’t have any pics of us on it – just a floral theme cause we’re getting married in a garden. I was surprised how many people side eyed us for not putting our pictures on there – but this just felt more “us.” Whatever! Can’t please everyone. Dont’ even try!

emsie :  I actually love it but yes the STD seems a bit more casual than the formal invite. But considering just the STD for the moment I think it is cute an would get a laugh from me.

The first one seems like a bachelor party invite to me.  It just doesn’t say wedding and seems incredibly informal.  The invitation is nice, but also casual.

If you’re having a casual wedding, that’s great.  If you’re expecting me to show up a little more formal though, you may run into trouble.

I love the STD, but I agree with PPs – it signals casual wedding to me. I would expect a backyard BBQ wedding or chill laid-back wedding with that STD.

I love the coasters STD’s (I actually borrowed the design for ours!) but do agree with people about the mismatched style. We’re having a backyard cocktail party, so they fit our vibe perfectly. Think of the STD’s as the first look of the overall vibe.

I like the coasters, but if you’re having a formal wedding, I definitely wouldn’t send those as a STD. I’d pick something that matches the style of your wedding, so people know what to expect when they’re planning their attire.

I think if it fits your crowd, go for it! I personally think save the dates are the things you can be playful with and have fun with a theme or show your personality. But then have the invitation match the formality of the wedding. The invitation sets the tone for the actual wedding.
