This is my new engagment ring I chose. I showed it to my best friend hoping she would be happy for me, but she said– what are you..87?
Why do clusters get the bad rap? Is this considered “ugly” Am I missing something? The picture doesnt do it justice. It sparkles beautifully with 3 princess cut diamonds surrounded by (37 diamonds)total of 1.56 total ct. Thoughts?

My thought is… It’s gorgeous! I would rock that with pride.

Do you like your ring? That is literally the only thing that matters in this situation. Everyone has their own personal style and taste. So what if your friend doesn’t like it, she’s not the one wearing it.
And for the record I think it’s very pretty.

@Alisiaintherain: sooo pretty! I love it! Looks great on you.

As long as you love it who gives a flying popsicle what others think!

@Alisiaintherain: I think it looks beautiful! I wonder if your friend was thinking that it looks dated because of the 3 stones? You see those in the 80s rings. BUT whatever, things go in and out and all that matters is that you love it!

I love it! Clusters and quad centers are hated by most on this board, but IRL I have received nothing but compliments on my quad center ring. Who cares what other people think? They aren’t paying for it or wearing it. If you and you FI love it, go for it!! I think it looks great 🙂
Edited: from what I can tell from your pic, that is not a cluster ring. It looks like a 3 stone with baguettes on the shank.

it looks very nice! ialso have clustered one too. i love being diffferent!

@Alisiaintherain: is it a cluster? It doesn’t look like one in the pic. Anyway it’s pretty and very sparkly.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t consider that ring a cluster. Isn’t it a three stone ring with an embelished band?
Anyways, I have no problem with clusters, I prefer them to quads simply because I do not like the square shape Princess cuts.

I second PPs. I don’t even think it’s really a “cluster.” Whatever it is, I think it is sparkly and beautiful! Good choice!

@pixiecat I guess i didnt really know what to call it, honestly. I think the three stone is prob the best description now that you all have commented. Thank you so much for all your responses. I do love the ring so much, I just felt like she rained on my parade a bit. It is non-traditional and I’m perfectly fine with it. 🙂

Your friend was being a dick. The ring is lovely. Ring trends are constantly changing, but this is a piece of jewelry you’ll have for the rest of your life, so don’t worry about what’s popular right now, just enjoy the ring you love.

@Alisiaintherain: Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s a cluster either; it looks like a 3 stone with an embellished band or a wrap. Lovely ring though, and your friend is a twat; seriously, who says something like that?!
