Quick background: FI and I have decided to ‘elope’ I guess you’d call it this summer. It’s going to be just our parents, my siblings (he has 10 that he isn’t close with so he doesn’t want to invite them) and possibly a few (like 5) friends in my parents back yard, either on their HUGE lawn or on the deck…maybe next to the pool? LOL, it sounds silly but it’s EXACTLY what I want. Very simple, not formal, with a BBQ of hot dogs and hamburgers. I have a friend who is a photographer / DJ and a whole bunch of other things, so I’m thinking of having him do pics and letting us use his speakers or what-not for music…but there probably won’t be dancing.
So, since the date is in 2.5 months and we JUST decided this week…I have nothing done! I started the search with dresses, because with possible alterations needed, I want to have it and not worry about it. Since it’s not formal (and it isn’t my first wedding), I wasn’t planning on wearing white even though my mother did suggest a cream sundress we saw while out shopping the other day, but I honestly am lost! I was first thinking a shade of blue that goes with Tiffany Blue, but then I saw this and thought ‘Hmmm…’ I haven’t seen it in person, so I don’t know if it will even look good on me, but what do you think of this? If you don’t like it, please feel free to offer suggestions because I just have no idea. It seems finding a sundress (I prefer long, but short could work) that isn’t covered in giant flowers or plain black is near imposssible.
Here’s a link to a dress I’m considering…I may take a stop at the mall this weekend to see if I can try it on. Thoughts??

I love it! You might want to go try it on though. Forever 21 has a tendency to be pretty crappy when it comes to their fabrics. I bought a shirt from there, washed it and out came a washer full of thread.

Can’t hurt to go try it on!
Side note…I would consider this an intimate wedding not an elopement 🙂

@MerryWidow: I love it! This is my idea of a wedding 🙂 It’s really about the celebration of your love and like you we are having ours at a family farm (a bit more people) and no dance because I want to be able to sit and socialize with everyone. We will be having bocce ball, bean bag toss, board games and a bonfire at the end. But that’s us, a grand wedding wouldn’t be “us”.
The dress is gorgeous, I actually had a little sundress that I first picked out and ended up with a wedding dress. I purchased the sundress from Delias.com, they may give you a few other options if you are looking for some.

That is GORGEOUS! And for that price, sure, why not? 🙂 I really love it, but definitely try it on before deciding!

LOVE it! But like PP have said you have to try it on. Expecially with that style of dress, not many people can pull it off.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU!! Hahaha, I’m trying not to panic but it’s starting to not work, can you tell??
@MrsElopement: Intimate Wedding…I love the sound of that, thanks!!
@Mrs. Bubb: I didn’t even think of Delia’s, I haven’t shopped there in forever (I’m 30, I felt too old haha), so I’ll check them out!
@NCPwedding: I have never owned anything other than $1 earrings from there (which I love) because the music is SO loud it gives me a headache (yup, I’m old) but you’re right, I don’t think I could order it without seeing it in person because you just never know.
My other ‘venue’ (haha) option would be if I asked my brother if we could have the wedding at his house, he lives in a beautiful old farmhouse with a gorgeous red barn and small orchard, it’s truly amazing. The problem is that he lives 3 hours away from the rest of us, so no one would come. Which could be considered a plus or minus, depending on how you look at it.

It looks great in the photo. I love the idea of something light and flirty like that for a small/casual wedding. Word of caution: in my experience Forever 21 does not make very high quality clothing. It’s great for the short term and one or two wearings without washing, but you have to decide if maybe you would like something with a bit more longevity for your wedding dress – how fun would it be to wear it again on anniversaries?

I can’t see which dress it is. It’s opening a full page of dresses.

@star_dust: That’s odd. Here’s a picture 🙂

@MerryWidow: I’m 33 😉 They have some cute sundresses, I don’t look at much else there!

For reference, I sincerely don’t think I could pull it off as I’m not tall nor do I have the body of a model. This is me at a friends wedding…which makes me think I’d be better off in an A-Line style.

I think it is lovely! Go try it on!

@MerryWidow: if you can rock that little black dress, you can so pull off the Forever21 dress!

@gertrude: Thanks!! The nearest Forever 21 is about a half hour away, my friend and I are going on a mission this week 🙂 I’ll post pics if it isn’t horrible!!
