Is it bad etiquette to write something like this up? Is it funny? Tacky? Creative? I’m just curious to know what everyone thinks of it.

While it’s probably very funny to those who know them, I don’t think it’s as funny for the public, who don’t know them and may not laugh at all the inside jokes..

Reads kind of inside-jokey I guess? I was reading it like “What do her degrees have to do with getting engaged?”

I agree, its supposed to be funny, but it doesn’t read that way.
Is this for real?

just makes her sound like she’s marrying “down” and could be taken very badly. Just not a fan of that one.

@smileyd: Yeah, it’s for real. Personally it makes me feel like they both think very highly of themselves.. or at least she does.

I’m all for humor, but this doesn’t make me laugh. With some editing, it could have been humorous and appropriate, but I really don’t think it is now. That bride needs a lesson in how to write self deprecating humor (you know, the kind others would also find funny).

This feels really obnoxious and self-indulgent to me.
Does NOT make me think highly of the couple at all.

UH… I dont’ think they wrote that themselves. It sounds like a bitter frenemy submitted that to the newspaper to me.

I just feel secondhand embarassment for them.

I get its suppose to be funny but I agree ony close friends would find it funny. I wouldn’t send it out as an annoucement and definitely not in a newspaper. Hmm I could see it as maybe a bachelorette party invitation.

I get what they are going for and maybe if I knew them in person I would feel differently, but it came off as really obnoxious and self absorbed to me.
