I think for an informal wedding it sounds great!!  I would just add some sort of veggies/salad or something.

If you want it to have a more elegant feel, switch your main courses away from foods you eat with your hands. Try BBQ/mesquite chicken breast and brisket instead of fried chicken and ribs, and maybe spoon bread or corn pudding instead of corn on the cob. Still not stuffy! But a little step up from your fear of “a great big BBQ.”

Sounds like the perfect southern wedding menu. Maybe one more veggie or a salad would be good.

Banana pudding and pie for dessert, please!

@kittyface:  Isn’t mac n’ cheese a vegetable everywhere 😉

Unfortunetly I’d really struggle with ths menu I’d like to see some vegetable and salad

The only thing I would eat would be the pork.

Iam really fussy though!

This sounds absolutely delicious! I agree about adding something green to the meal. We’re hoping to have a similar type of menu (minus the messy ribs) and our wedding is not overly casual. We just want to have food that we and our guests will enjoy.

I went to a beautiful, elegant barn wedding with a menu just like you have plannned and everyone LOVED IT. SUCH a relief from the rubbery chicken, green beans and pink steak most venues (like mine lol) usually serve at banquet events.

And if you have British guests, they will love the novelty of it!

@leecy87:  -drools-

But I agree with other bees. Add a light salad or something.

@leecy87:  Plenty of elegant, informal southern weddings serve this kind of food – it’s all about presentation. You’ll be just fine 🙂

@leecy87:  i think it sounds very tasty.  i would rethink the ribs if i were you.  they are too messy for people dressed up (yourself included).  you already have pork on the menu anyways.  also, as pp mentioned, a green salad would be a great addition with this heavy menu.

your menu is perfect if you want a nice casual, informal wedding.

That sounds really good right now! I think you have a good number of entree choices and the sides are yummy, but all of them pretty heavy. I agree with other posters that a salad would be a nice touch 🙂

Definitely agreed on a green veggie. Green beans? Broccoli? Those are always popular!
