for a buffet?
Panzanella Salad – this has romaine lettuce, olives, tomatoes, onion, pepperchinis(sp), artichoke hearts, and a couple other things I can’t remember. It will have balsamic dressing. It is a very pretty salad. Most of our guests will love everything in it. I will be picking out 99% of it and giving it to my Fiance.
Roasted Cornish Hens
Baby Back Ribs
Roasted Potatoes
Sliced Fresh Fruit – watermelon, honeydew, cantelope, grapes, pineapple, and strawberries
For desert we will, of course, have our wedding cake, but I am considering adding a candy bar and an icecream bar. What do you think? I am also going to include truffles in the favors on the place settings and homemade by me chocolate chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies with the homemade vanilla favors.
The portions for these are quite large. When we did our tasting, we ended up bringing home enough leftovers to have for dinner.

I’m a super picky eater, so honestly I wouldn’t eat much except for the fruit at your wedding and a nibble of chicken (I have a thing about seeing food as the animal, although cornish hens are what my sister had and they were yummy).
That being said, I think for the average eater your menu sound delicious! I vote for an ice cream bar, as ice cream is my favorite dessert π

You think so?
I don’t like veggies, but the salad and the potatoes are both vegtables. I thought the one vegetarian we will have as a guest would be happy with the salad, potatoes, and fruit. They are quite substantial. You don’t think it is enough? What other kind of veggie would you suggest?

I am a super picky eater too. The food was good though, and I wouldn’t normally eat a lot of it, but it surprised me. I am going to add the candy bar and icecream bar to the poll.

I recently went to a buffet wedding and the follwoing was served:
* Salad – nothing fancy
* Dinner Rolls
* Steak tips and grilled chicken
* Grilled slices of squash
* Roasted Red Potatoes
Maybe a summer squash or asparagus? something a little lighter than the potatoes? Just a suggestion – I think the salad sounds yummy!
I think the candy bar/ice cream bar is perfect!!! I’m a sweets fanatic!!!

I am a sweets fanatic too, and so is my Fiance. Maybe asparagus. I know a lot of people like it. As long as I don’t have to go near it, I should be fine. I am weird. I have a vegtable phobia.

ha ha back to you π
My Fiance and family would love it if I would eat more veggies. I might have to try the roasted asparagus, but the brussel sprouts and green beans, I am not ready for…I only eat corn and potatoes too!!!

I think that with your favors you’d probably do best going with either a candy bar or an ice cream bar. I love sweets too, but after realizing that not everyone has the same affinity for them and that I don’t want the leftovers to go to meh butt, I had to cut back some in the sweets department. You might think about adding in a pasta if possible. Pasta is very inexpensive and very filling and if you make it a vegetarian dish, then your vegetarian won’t just feel like they’re being served side dishes.

Good idea toffee. It is just so hard to choose. And good idea for the pasta too.

The menu sounds great! I second another veggie because potatoes and salad aren’t really a meal for someone who doesn’t eat meat. The pasta idea is a great one.

As a vegetarian, I certainly wouldn’t leave starving. π That being said, any event with alcohol and you might want to consider offering something a tad bit more substantial since that’s pretty much just carbs. Would an entree be too expensive? If it is, no worries, it’s definitely enough food.

Thank you RecessionistaBride, jordynrose, and lilyfaith for your comments. I appreciate them very much.
@lilyfaith, it is good to know that as a vegitarian, you wouldn’t leave starving π
We are only having beer and wine and nonalchoholic drinks and our wedding is in the afternoon, so I think it should be okah. I am not sure what you mean by an entree?
