It’s not edited/artsy enough for my taste.  They’ll have a nice photo, but then the one after looks like a regular digital camera photo with nothing done to it.

I never had a photographer contact me actually. So this is the first I’ve heard of this!

I think the good ones don’t go looking for work; the work finds them.  So I’d avoid anyone taht called me personally!  Unless their work was to my liking.

I did extensive research.  I used wedding blogs for my wedding locations, I used Google a lot.  I look for an editing style that I like, then I research the price.

If you’re at a particular venue, you can google NJ wedding photogarpher “wedding venue” and you can find blogs of other photogs and maybe they posted a wedding at that venue (like you did here).

On their website, I do wish the wedding albums they posted were a little longer so I could see more of the bridal party/formal shots.  I prefer to look at how they do those pictures versus action/party pictures because I figure those will be the ones I want nice canvases of.

I did have a few photographers contact me directly, but I also seemed a little leary of them.  I did extensive research as well.  I don’t have any advice for your area, but I used weddingwire.com for doing a lot of research on vendors because there were a LOT of helpful reviews!

It would also be helpful to look at the average cost in your area and stay around there if you can afford it, as I think often times you get what you pay for.  If you can do reasearch and narrow it down to maybe 2-5 photographers you’d be happy with style-wise I would then look at their costs and packages and figure out which one works the best with what you want.

Oh, also meeting with them can help because you can see how some of those photos look in person and printed out!  Sometimes it’s more difficult to tell online.

They seem alright, but I didn’t find the photos to be all the special. Considering the venue is absolutely beautiful and you can’t get a better backdrop than they city skyline, I was expecting the photos to be a little nicer.

We are using Blooming Studios, I found them based on reviews on Wedding Wire. Another photographer that I loved in the area was Kate Connelly photography, but even her lowest package was well above my price range.

I think they look nice!  I like the song that was playing – it was our first dance song 🙂

I like them.  Coloring seems natural (which I like) and they captured emotions well.  I would ask them to take more wide-angle shots so you can see the venues more.

Also consider looking upstate in NY many photographers travel. Better price point for upstate over NNJ/NYC area and you may find someone you love.

They are ok. BUt i hate the way they are presented. Its hard to tell in a slideshow like that.

I had my photographer in mind a year ago. She did my friends wedding and i adored the pictures.

I knew i would book her the second we met. She was so easy going and remember, you will be with this person the ENTIRE day so you need to get along with them.

For me, I think the venue and photographer took the most research (I spent weeks, maybe a month, agonizing over those two areas)…because those were the most important things to me and because those vendors only take one wedding at a time so it was important for me to book them early so I wouldn’t have to settle.

Hopefully you’ll be able to get away with a lot less research in other areas!

Their processing is all over the place, I mean REALLY all over the place.  I do not like inconsistent looks in photography.

Also I wouldn’t base a photography decision on whether or not they’ve shot in the space previously.

I found my photographer here under vendor reviews.  We LOVE our photographer’s style.  If you’re not totally in love with your photographer’s pictures, I’d keep looking.  You’re probably spending a decent chunk of cash on photography, you don’t want to be ‘just ok’ with your pics.
