I think it is hard to judge Deborah because you see just a portfolio. That means she might just be picking her best photos. I always pour over a photographers blog so I know exactly what their style is.

Personally I like her work.  I like photography that is candid and not staged.

When I was looking I checked out several photographers who was in my price range.(My dream photographer would cost the same as my entire wedding budget.lol)  Before I even met her, I loved her site, her pictures, and music.  After meeting her, I booked her.  I knew she would ensure our Best was displayed.

So, I say meet w/ her and let her sell herself to you.  If you have a good vibe, go for her.   Just because someone has a great album, doesn’t mean that they will be the best person to work w/.

@vicozzie- I like Deborah better than your other 2 options.  But that’s me.  The others are traditional photos that I will tire of after awhile.  I believe personality is essential since they have to encourage the Best out of you.

Well compared to 99.9% of the photographers around here, those are amazing so I don’ really know. I would be thrilled to have a photographer that good lol…

@vicozzie: I liked about 80% of her shots!! I didn’t like all the ups and downs of different styles of processing but that may have just been the way she put together her slideshow :-). Just contact her, let her know what YOU are looking for. You like the vibrant style photos, let her know that and that you would like some of the other styles as well. Also see if you can get together with her before she starts really processing your photos so you can decide what you want done to which photo. Not all photographers do that, but it never hurts to ask! That way she knows where you are and what you are looking for as a potenial client! ๐Ÿ˜€ Best of luck!!

The other 2 don’t really do anything for me, esp if this is their best work.  Some of the images look like snap shots.

Her work isn’t consistent, but she shows promise for someone who appears to be a budding photographer. It does take some people a while to establish their signature look. She does use a LOT of post-processing on her images, so if natural, un-processed photos are your thing, I’d look elsewhere.

Personal pet peeve: She’s using copyrighted music on her site without a license. Most photographers don’t know better and think because they bought it on iTunes they can use it online. Nope. It’s a commercial use and she should be using royalty-free music from a service designed for that purpose– it’s basically akin to someone taking her photos and using them on their website because they like them. I’m sure she probably just doesn’t realize, though… not a common thing to know when starting out as a business person. ๐Ÿ™‚
