@Mrs Canuck:  This is sort of incorrect.  The clarity doesn’t have as much to do with the sparkle as cut does.  I have seen I1’s that had ideal cuts- and they sparkled like crazy.  You could see a carbon spot, but in all honesty, it sparkled just as much as much as my VVS1- which sparkles like crazy.

I love it! I think if one is going to go with a “smaller” or more “budget friendly” ring they should do something elegant and classy like a solitare. I personally don’t like when rings use a ton of small diamonds to make it look “bigger” or more “flashy”. Just keep it classy and beautiful!

My only problem with solitaires is that they all look the same. If you put my ring in a box with 10 others and mix them up, I want to be able to say THAT ONE is mine. If you did that to me with a solitaire, unless the stone was absurdly big or small in comparison or it was the only one with that metal color, I’d be hard pressed to say for sure that it was mine and not one of the other solitaires in the box.

I have  a solitaire and it’s also from Kay. I LOVE it. Simple and elegant and will never go out of style. It’s what I’ve always wanted too and I’m so happy with it.

@LadyBlackheart:  Too simple and plain for myself. But I love a lot of bling. If you love it you should get it!

@HonoraryNerd:  Not so, although I used to think so before I got mine! You can mix it up with prong style and size, setting and shape.  My white gold round solitaire has double prongs, an opal and topaz on either side of the basket, and the sides of the ring don’t meet the centre stone so it sits like a cup. Sure, from a distance it looks like a classic solitaire, but I could pick my ring out of 100 other solitaires in seconds. I’m sure plenty of other bees with solitaires could pick theirs out too. There’s something special and unique about every ring 🙂

OP, the ring is lovely but I agree with others- shop around and find a better setting. If you end up not using his grandmother’s diamond, consider moissanite. Mine is a moissanite and I couldn’t be happier!
