I want to walk down the aisle to this song. My problem is that everyone thinks its a song about loss! After 9/11 an unauthorized version of this song was played to honor the deceased.
“We’re in Heaven” is originally done by Bryan Adams, but has been remixed with DJ Sammy and singer Do. I found 2 slow versions of this song and i don’t know which one i want to go with. I’m leaning more towards the DJ Sammy Version. Also, please let me know if you feel that this song is either about love or death.
Pictures of the chapel that i will be getting married at is attached so you can get a feel for the song.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

What a beautiful church first of all!!!! I personally really like the second version because of the violins. I think if you love this song, what matters is what it means to you! I think its about love, but I never heard it associated with 9/11 so I may have different associations with it than most people. I remember the fast version and dancing to it at school dances hahaha!

Thank you!!! The comments on those youtube videos are all about people passing and how it helps them to cope! I found on wikipedia (if i can remember right) that after the 9/11 attacks some guy made his little girl read some kind of loss poem and played that song on the air without any authorization. Not one comment on those videos were about beeing in love so i wasn’t sure!
My sis hates this song because it reminds her of our raving days, lol!

The church is beautiful and that song should work perfectly!

I really hate the DJ Sammy version, mostly because I am a big Bryan Adams fan. I don’t think this song is about loss at all, and growing up I always thought I would use this at my wedding. Go for it!
*Not to be annoying, but the song is actually just called “Heaven” 🙂

I never heard the song associated with 9/11 but I do feel like it is about loss. It isn’t so much the words as the tone and music… its melancholy. It is a beautiful song and if you love it I think you should use it… but I have always felt it was kind of a sad song.

I SO feel you. We are using Wilco’s “On and On and On” as our processional song and have nothing but negative views from the family members we have told (so finally stopped giving people any info). It is a really beautiful song about how love lasts beyond life, but it was written by Jeff Tweedy for his father after his father’s wife had passed away, so everyone keeps telling me that it is too sad for a wedding.
You know what? I don’t care. I love it, it works for us, and it was one of the very few things FH felt strongly about including. So it’s just too bad for the people who think it’s too sad. They can get over it.
So – use your song! Your wedding ceremony is about YOU and FH. That’s it. No other opinions needed.
(Off my soapbox now.)

Thank you ladies for the feedback! This is from wikipedia:
Because of the dance version’s popularity, a stripped-down, ballad-like “Candlelight Mix” version was made and sang by Do, and received airplay on Adult Contemporary radio stations as well as CHR stations.
An unauthorized remix of the “Candlelight Mix” was also made by KISS FM in Bakersfield, California to commemorate the September 11 terrorist attacks. The song features a little girl talking about her father who presumably died in the attacks, with the original chorus intermittently playing. A popular Flash animation plays out this version of the song. The little girl’s vocal was actually the daughter of the program director at the time. He simply read her the lines and had her repeat them for him, with a little emotional prompting. Then he edited himself out of the voice track. This was one of the most requested songs in the station’s history, and had all of the local market talking. It even crossed over to Clear Channel‘s other stations for a wider audience.
I listened to the unauthorized version on youtube and it is sad because of the little girl’s voice, but i still LOVE this song.
Ottawabride- I do know that the song is called Heaven, but i don’t like putting one words in titles since it’s easily missed, lol. Oh yes, Bryan Adams is AWESOME!
Septcabride- Totally agree with doing what you and FH want for the wedding! It is a wedding between you two and its ABOUT you two!!

may i ask where your chapel is located?

It is the Paradise Cove Crystal Chapel located on O’ahu, Hawaii. It is managed by Best Bridal Hawaii – bestbridalhawaii.com
I’m born and raised in Hawaii and we wanted something that wasn’t touristy and cheesy looking.
Caveat – This chapel is very expensive between $2000 – $4,000!

what a beautiful church wow–i need to step my game up…I like the 2nd version better is seems more peaceful and angelic…love the songs and to me it is not associated to death at all. It’s very emotional in a sense and refelects deep love I love the song and now u have me considering it for my wedding, it is sure to get your guests tear up but out of happiness as the song is deep in the way it speaks about love. Go for it if it relects you and ur fiance love go for it..
