A few weeks ago my Grandmother gave me this ring, which used to be her Mothers, and my Great Grandmothers. I asked her if it was a real stone and she said that my Grandmother didn’t own anything otherwise, but she couldn’t tell me what it was. So…about all I know about the stone is that its not a colored CZ or anything like that.
I also know that the little baby stones in each of 4 prongs are tiny diamonds.
Its not a color change stone, so my best guess is amethyst. I’ll take it to a jeweler and see eventually, but I though maybe you bee’s would know?

i’d say amethyst, but possibly purple alexandrite or purple sapphire?

I think it’s a fancy-cut amethyst.

I think it’s an amethyst, too. // Very pretty ring! I love the tiny diamonds in the prongs.

Gorgeous ring, I agree that it looks like amethyst.

Probably an amethyst, but maybe a tanzanite…? They seem to come in a blue tone, and a more purple tone too.

@lolaswann: I do have a purple alexandrite, but this one isn’t a color change stone, so its not that. I wish though!

That is one gorgeous ring. I would say it is amethyst but you never know, it could be something else.
