Kate Spade projects itself as youthful, but that’s not neccesarily a bad thing. You can have a youthful personality at 50! That said, if you’re looking for something sophisticated, stick to clean lines, bags with structure and neutrals. They’ll look refined no matter what the brand.

I like some KS bags, but overall I feel the interior quality is lacking. I love Dooney & Bourke the most!

I think “Oh that’s a Kate Spade bag” and the don’t think about it anymore.

Some Kate Spade bags are childish, some are classic. It’s not about the brand, it’s about the bag itself.

I love my Kate Spade bags. I don’t think my very structured bag looks youthful, but I do have a more fun print one that does make me feel a little more youthful. MK bags, however, strike me as being too youthful for me.

I agree with pp that my view of the brand is preppy and girly. But I think the plainer designs are nice and simple – I’d just never want a bag with bows or scallops.

Kate Spade bags are not my personal style but I think some styles are okay.

I’m not into KS but to me it reminds me of when Coach and MK were the popular purse brands, it’s just The in brand right now.
Also, if I looked at a bag I would have zero clue if it was KS or not.

Love love love them. I’m 33 and I have 6 of them on rotation.
I wouldn’t consider them a youthful brand.
All of mine are plain black, navy or tan leather.

I personally wouldn’t buy one for myself, but I do own one that was a gift and I like it just fine. Generally I think Kate Spade has fun and contemporary designs, although some do come off a bit too “cutesy” for me (bows, polkadots, etc). I like the crossbody bags the best out of the styles.

Depends on the bag. I don’t really pay attention to the brand so much as the bag itself.

These two have very different vibes..

jayrock : I agree…:(
I don’t carry a purse and I think everyone should carry whatever brings them joy & is functional for their lifestyle. I saw someone mention that you can have a youthful at any age and I love that!! OP carry what makes you happy! I don’t think anyone else would judge you for a Kate Spade purse. I personally wouldn’t spend that much on a purse but I’m just not into purses. Everyone has their own things that they like to spend money on purses just aren’t my thing!!

I think it’s a youthful brand but many of the designs are classic. I find that many brands are leaning young these days, Ted Baker with its bows and even Coach these last few years. I stay away from the young designs but I do like a classic bag, no matter what designer it is. Conclusion: wear what you like! Other people won’t notice or care most of the time.
