I noticed that a couple of days after her suicide, a lot of the bags in Spade’s Frances Valentine brand were sold out. I didn’t realize that she had started a new brand, and I assume that other people didn’t either, but I also wonder how many people were buying them to capture that moment in time (don’t really know how else to put this).
Only if they are well enough off not to be expected to contribute to household expenses…many teenagers are working for “fun” money and many teenagers are not working for “fun” money but rather to help support their families.

I have a Herschel Little America backpack (it’s not actually little…they have smaller options too)…mine is a solid color with clean lines and cost somewhere around $100. I see professionals in my city wearing them (and also some college students). Thought I’d mention it as an option, since you mentioned a backpack.

I love Kate Spade purses. I think some are a little weird and would never carry it, but the classic bags in solid colors are beautiful.
I have LV, MK, and most Coach bags. I figure if I like it, who cares?

Honestly, I think that judging people by the brand of bag they have is very superficial. If you have a classic bag with clean lines, it’s going to look “adult” and professional no matter what brand it is from.
