@anemone681:  We use seresto, which is a collar form for prentatives but its fairly new to the market but has great reviews. Its from the same people that do Advantix

Revolution. We’ve never found any ticks/fleas on any of our pets.

Oh, boy. I’m a terrible mother. I have no idea what we use, but I do know that it is an all encompassing product that protects from fleas, ticks, heartworm, etc. It is a pill that furbaby takes once per month.

@anemone681:  It is hard enough to get furbaby to take his medicine, so I can’t imagine making him take 2 separate things. I like the all in one deal 🙂

Idk about other countries but there is nothing safely sold in the U.S. the prevents fleas, ticks, and heartworms.

Your options are a flea and tick precentative with an alternate heartworm precention or a flea and heartworm preventative with an alternate tick lreventative.

@anemone681:  sorry that wasn’t directed at you. I should have been clearer.I’ve just come in contact with a lot of people who think their prevention takes care of everything from fleas to ticks to worms and that’s just not the case. I just don’t want people getting upset or mixing things and causing their pets to get sick.

I do recommend Advantix though for fleas and ticks. It’s much cheapee than frontline, more effective, and they offer coupons/rebates where you can buy 3 and get 1 free or buy 4 and get 2 free.

@SuperKate:  We use revolution as well.  We live in CT which is tick central, and have never found anything on our pup, who is out in the woods for hours daily.

We also use Buzz Guard, which a natural repellant, and it definitely helps with staving off bugs/flies/fleas etc.

I use Frontline Plus along with Sentinel – so far we haven’t had any issues, but I live in a city, so I don’t think we have too much of a tick problem.

Comfortis users here & love it! Our pooch has used frontline for 2 years until she started getting fleas really bad one summer & it wasn’t working. Switched to comfortis a year ago without any issues.  We do the capstar for a few days as others have mentioned if she’s already got them, then follow up with the comfortis. You can tell the capstar is working as she gets super itchy feeling them jump around trying to abandon ship!

but it doesn’t work for tics, that I know of, so we just bathe her when we get home after an outing (usually once or twice a week) so we can check her & pull any off….
