– Things you wish you had done before getting pregnant/having kids

  • Had just one more really good steak cooked medium rarish
  • Drank just one more glass of really good cabernet

Yeah, those are all food based, but I really miss a good steak with Cabernet.

– Things you’re glad you did before getting pregnant/having kids

  • Lived by making lots of mistakes, learning that they happen, and realizing that I have someone who always has my back

– Things that you do now that make you glad you don’t have a baby right now.

  • Well, I’m pregnant, so every lazy night is numbered. Every time we run out for a last minute date night is numbered. I’ll miss having my husband all to myself.

We’re not trying for kids until a few years into the marriage (at least, that’s the plan) but a few things I really want to do first:

1) go on an extended trip of Europe (at least 3 weeks)

2) live somewhere completely un-child-friendly, like a loft downtown without worrying about neighborhood, school, etc.

3) reach a high position in my career field.

I read this thread yesterday and it hit me on the way home tonight. The one thing I’m so happy we did before I got pregnant was buy a new mattress! Seriously, I’d be miserable right now if I was still sleeping on the old one and I’d probably have a hard time justifying a $1000 expense now, 4 months before baby arrives.

This is a great post 🙂 Even though we’re not planing on TTC any time soon, we both seriously wish we could and have definitely caught the baby bug. Here’s our baby bucket list!

Before I have Children I would like to….

– Finally get into/Finish most of Medical School!!!

– Buy a house, or since we live in Los Angeles where you can’t even buy a condo for less than half a million, have lots and lots and lots of savings

– Have my fam be in a position to help with childcare so we can keep the baby rearing in the family

– Get back in shape and STAY that way for once! I got super skinny in high school, gained it back in college, got skinny again after college, and gained it back just in time for the wedding. Now I’ve got less than 10 weeks to get skinny again. Oy vey.

– Pay off student loans! Haha this will never happen with med school loans, but i’d settle for paying off the under grad ones.

Things I/we’ve already done:

– Ireland, Britain, Italy, France, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, I really want to go to Egypt though!

– Sleep, sleep, sleep – this one really depends on the kid because my best friends baby girl has slept in till about 10-11am since she was 4 months old. Some kids just like their sleep. The same thing goes for lazy nights, their kid is more than happy to cruise the carpet and play with her toys while they watch multiple reruns of Psych, they then put her to bed at 9pm and play xbox or watch movies till their bed time

– Paid off our cars, though Fiance is going to need a new one

@hilsy85: Do you and your husband attend synagogue (I checked your earlier posts lol…I saw the chuppah)? A lot of temples (and churches) need volunteers to work in the nursery/child care, etc. You could check to see if they need anyone to help out. You could get your baby fix, and still go home to a quiet house!

1. Pay off the rest of my debt

2. Buy a house or have at last 50k saved

3. Go on two more trips (Hawaii and Thailand or California)

4. Get in better shape!
