I shop almost exclusively at NY&Co and Kohls for my work stuff.  They have the cutest stuff without making you look older than your age.

I’m stuck to a wardrobe of all black, unfortunately, but I find most of my items at Banana Republic or Express. <3 those two stores!

And I agree w/ spending a bit more on your basics. I have a few pairs of the same exact pants, but I’ve had them since fall of last year and they’re still in near perfect condition!

I keep a thin black cardigan at work all the time, in case I need to run to a meeting and I’m just wearing pants and a top.  If you have a Marshalls or TJ Maxx, I would look there for short sleeved tops and nicer sleeveless tops.  Pair them with a long, slim khaki or black skirt, a pair of black pants, or a shorter black pencil skirt.  You can buy nice basic Ts that are fitted from Old Navy, then dress them up with long necklaces, cardigans, etc.  I love Old Navy trousers.

My dresses are all pretty much knee length or just above, short sleeved or sleeveless.  Almost all of them are jersey and can be washed.  You can find cute dresses at Walmart or Target every now and then.

Good luck!

I think the important thing for dresses is the fit. Shouldn’t be too short and can have short sleeves but shouldn’t have a low neckline. I think for winter solids or dark patterns are nice and with summer, you can mix it up more. Keep with classic shapes and silhouettes. Look to Ann Taylor and Banana Republic for inspiration (even if you shop somewhere else).

Most of my wardrobe comes from LOFT, Banana Republic, Gap and sometimes J.Crew. Macy’s also has a great “everyday value” section, and most of the women’s dept. goes on sale about twice a month!

Check out Express’ Editor Pant. It’s the perfect pair of slacks and they’re almost always buy one get one half off. I own 5 pairs in different colours, inseams and styles. New York and Company has a ton of inexpensive but nice looking tops. Kohls is also awesome and inexpensive.

I am addicted to Anthropologie and J. Crew! I am really broke, but I just shop their sales. I’m also a young professional with a lot of tanks and such because I’m young, so I have invested in a lot of layering pieces. I have bought a bunch of cute cardigans and button-downs I can put over the tanks already have.

Investing in some nice flats are great, too, if you’re going to be on your feet a lot.

Professional clothes are really pricey, so don’t freak out. Just sale-shop and you’ll be good. 😉

tons of jackets and cardigans. you really only need a few bottoms. No one will notice if you wear the same bottoms a few times a week but they will the tops. I have tons of shells, cardigans, jackets and sweaters. I also have a few dresses that I put different jackets and cardigans with. I also have a few pairs of pants and skirts. You MUST have a white, tan, black and a few bright colored shells 🙂 Oh, and flats and heels 🙂 black and brown are neccessities.

I have a HUGE wardrobe and most of it comes from Salvation Army – my favorite store. Seriously, check out a thrift shop in a “ritzy” section of town and you won’t believe what you will find. Most of my dresses, skirts and sweathers have come from there and with the right accessories – I never fail to get compliments. With the exception of my summer wardrobe, most of my clothes tend to be “earth tones” and mix and match easily. Just add the right jewelry and/or scarf or hat and vola!

I am so rushed during the mornings that I can not spend a lot of time figuring out what to wear!
