14k is a little less coppery than a penny.  18k is less coppery and more subtle, so ask for that if you want less red in it.  I prefer 18k.   The set on my finger fully is 18k, the other is 14k.  18k yellow is in the middle.

I am glad I could help.  ๐Ÿ™‚  On my skin 14k seems harsh, to my eyes anyway, but it looks fab on my Darling Husband, who has olive sin.  If you find a penny looks too red and makes your skin look green, go 18k.  ๐Ÿ™‚

With yellow and rose gold I find gold karat is really important to match with skin.

@jcent:   I can see the difference from your pics – I love the soft warmth of the 18k. I learned something new today!

In real life it is even more noticable.  ๐Ÿ™‚  Me too beesbelle, I find it very ethereal.

It really depends on the caster and what alloy they’re using.

Here is my 18k:

@jcent:  sadly, it was not the winner.  I realized that I didn’t care  the style I chose and think that I would have preferred 14k over 18k.  However, I had been leaning towards a white gold diamond band, and am very happy with my choice.  Thanks!

I have a 10k and a 14k diamond band and I see a little difference. The 14k is lighter in terms of copper colour, because there is more gold than the 10k alloy. I love both colours
