I’ve heard many brides say that their wedding dress is the single most important aspect of their weddings (aside from the groom, of course!) Others say it’s just a dress for just another day.
What is your opinion on what a wedding dress should be??

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
I voted that it’s the most amazing dress I’ll ever wear even though I don’t feel that strongly about it, I feel more strongly than that it’s just a pretty dress. I do think that it’s one time that I will be able to wear certain things, so I went for my dress because I could wear it for the wedding, but would never be appropriate again (lace train etc)

I worked at a small bridal boutique for about 7 years through end of highschool and all through college. every dress is beautiful. but at the end of the day – to me – its just a dress. I saw the cost of the dress for our shop and then the cost we charged our brides. and its unbeleivable to me what girls will pay for a dress they will only wear once. and believe it or not, we were a decently priced store. other places were charging double what we charged!!! I’m not cheap, just pretty good at weighing options. when it comes to the dress – you can find something pretty at a cheap price. i’d rather spend the money on a good photographer.
I blame my opinion on working at the boutique. after seeing so many dresses i have the mentality that you’ve seen one dress, you’ve seen them all.

The three most important things to me, aside my Fiance, are the dress, flowers & photography. I almost selected just a pretty dress b/c so many dresses are amazing but my wedding dress in the dress in which I will become a wife.
I found exactly what I wanted & I cannot wait.

@MeiFrancis: +1. I’m sure I will wear more beautiful dresses in the future, but it’s also more than a pretty dress. I think the only people who get to wear wedding-type dresses more than once are celebrities on the red carpet.

I’m in between the most special dress and its just a dress..
I do think it’s the most special dress I’ll wear but i’m more worried about other aspects of my wedding than my dress, the food, the venue, entertainment, photography are much higher on my list. I want everyone, including me, to have a good time. I don’t think I would be the bride that ruins the budget because of a dress. Although.. I say that and I haven’t tried on dresses yet. 😉

@sarg88: Just out of curiosity.. is it worth bargaining on price since there is such a markup?
@Coral99: Out of curiously, say you bought one you really like, but it’s not special enough.. would you upgrade to make it feel more “right”?
@LaCroix: Lucky celebrities. I want to walk to red carpet gosh-darnit!
@bbsoon2be: I never thought I would be either! Scored a deal and might throw it out the window lol

To me, it’s just a dress. I want to look great on my wedding day, but I don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a dress to do so. I have a wedding dress budget I want to stick to — I’d rather put the rest of the money into throwing an awesome party.

It’s extremely important. But I’m the type of person who LOVES clothes and I plan outfits like Cher in Clueless. I recognize though that not every woman has dreams of sparkly Manolos flashing through her mind and doesn’t seek out designers to custom make a veil to match the dress beading. Everyone has different priorities and that’s okay. I just know that if I don’t walk out in a stunning “different” dress, it wouldn’t be ME. That’s why when my dress budget more than doubled, my Fiance didn’t even blink, because he understands.

I think it’s a special dress, but it’s special because I’m getting married in it. That said, I flat out refused to spend more than $600 before tax on my dress because well – it is just a dress. My friends told me I’m too practical lol.

@OnceUponATime: if its a smaller shop – i say yes ask. usually they have the liberty to sway on prices a little more than a big box store like David’s. and if you are buying bridesmaids there, then definitely ask for a discount on the bridal gown.

It’s a pretty dress. A dress that I’ll wear for an important occasion, but in the end it’s just clothes. I also have every intention of dying mine after the wedding and wearing it again, though. I am either a little too practical or a little too attached. 🙂

I voted most amazing dress :), It’s the dress i’ll wear when i become a wife, something i hope i’ll never have to wear again. Also because doubt i will ever get away with wearing a rose embroidered gown in public ever lol.

I voted just a dress. My prom dress in 2003 was more expensive and more ornate than my wedding dress. I just wasn’t into the pretty princess thing for my wedding.

To me it’s just a dress…just a special for a day dress. Mine cost 35$ on sale at Macys. We’re getting it altered to make it a little more me. But other than that…I fully plan to TTD…be a bride and groom for Halloween…zombie style…OHHH and we were thinking of going as a bride and groom the next time we go to Teatro Zinzanni. Maybe a wedding themed one will come up. They had masks that were very bridal the last show we caught…got me thinking 🙂
So, I plan to get use out of it. But it’s just a dress…
