mm i went in with the mentality its just a dress .. its just one day.. but when it came down to it I couldn’t settle and had to have the dream dress.. others really didn’t compare. Do i regret spending $$$? hell no! i looked amazing in my dress lol and would have regretted it if i ended up w a cheaper “just a dress” dress.

I think I put a lot of pressure on myself by thinking it was supposed to be the most special/beautiful dress I ever wear.  Honestly, I wish I wouldn’t have had that expectation.  It made the process really hard and not so much fun.  In truth, I’ve worn a lot of beautiful dresses so it’s hard to find something insanely amazing with a tight budget.

@OnceUponATime:  To me, it’s just another pretty dress. I won’t be spending a huge amount on it. It just doesn’t make sense to me to have a big production of a wedding. It’s expensive and over quickly. Since we’re not rich, I can think of many things that come ahead of having a big wedding (and thus a fancy dress) on the priority list.

To me, the rings are the most important aspect of the wedding/engagement. I will wear them forever. The dress will be worn for a few hours. The money is going into the rings and honeymoon and we are eloping 🙂

To me, a wedding dress gains most of its importance because it is worn at a wedding. Ideally, you should be looking back at the pictures for a lifetime, so you should get something you like. That being said, I wouldn’t call it particularly special otherwise.

@sarg88:  My mom used to work at a bridal shop, so I have a very similar opinion. I had a hard time finding one that felt unique to me that wasn’t insanely expensive. Since i attend a lot of black tie events for my job, I have worn a lot of fabulous dresses (typically from Rent the Runway). In the end, it’s a pretty dress but it’s not what the day is about for me.

It’s just a dress. My mum found it so frustrating helping me to find a dress as it was pretty obvious that I didn’t really care. The most important aspect for me by far was the wedding ring. Afterall, it’s something you wear everyday and gives people a first impression of you.
