I know it’s super early, but I swear I’ve felt the baby move the last 3 days. I am just shy of 14 weeks and this is my first baby. I was lying on the couch, on my side and all of a sudden I felt a fluttery-like vibration on the mid-left side of my stomach between my pubic bone and my belly button. Then I started to feel a series of quick taps, then they would stop, then start again, and lasted a few minutes only. I have never felt anything remotely like this before. Could this be the baby?

@Monny: Sounds like that was baby. 🙂 I felt flutters for the first time at 14w2d and the beat description I can give was something I read: its like when you pour a can of soda into a glass of ice and the bubbles rise up to the top. That’s what it felt like in my uterus. Bubbles rising. I didn’t feel it again til about 15w and it was the same feeling. I didn’t feel taps or thumps til 17 weeks and now at 19 weeks I’m feeling kicks, punches and somersaults. 🙂

@Monny: tbh it feels like gas, haha. I think you felt it!!

It feels like what I imagine a goldfish would feel like swimming around in your stomach.

When I felt my baby moving it was literally feeling movement in my belly. 5 years later and I still feel it sometimes lol. But it feels like a small ball is rolling around inside your stomach. Later on when it comes to pokes and stabs, it doesn’t always feel like a small ball anymore but lots of elbows and knees

@daybyday: Yep! This is what I’ve been telling people when they ask what it feels like. I say “imagine your uterus (or bladder if I’m talking to DH) is a plastic bag filled with water and there is a goldfish in it. Every once and a while, it will bump into the side of the bag very gently.
Now that I am 20 weeks, it feels more like a small carp than a goldfish. Bumps are harder, and I can feel a “swooshing” of the water when the baby makes a big move.

At 16 weeks, it felt like bubbles bursting to me!

kris325– I kept feeling movement after my Dear Daughter was born 2yrs later.
Monny– It feels like gas and pressure to me. I did feel a kick for the 1st time last night though and I’m 17wks4d

When I first felt it, it felt like gas bubbles floating around. Now it feels like a chicken bone is stabbing me from the inside- at least when its a foot or arm.

I think you felt it! I first felt the baby around the same time as you are now, so it is definitely possible 🙂

Thanks everyone. My husband thinks I’m crazy, so I’ve given up trying to explain what I’ve been feeling. LOL.

It felt like popcorn popping to me, haha! All these little “pops”! Bubbles would describe it too. FWIW, I believe that I first felt movement around 13 w or so so I think it is entirely possible.

The first movements I felt almost felt like when your eye twitches spontaneously, so like a tiny muscle spasm in your uterus haha.

I’m not totally sure, so I didn’t vote! However I am a week ahead of you and I swear I felt something very similar to what you described while laying in bed 2 nights ago! If you think about how big the baby is now, it’s not totally crazy to think that you’d be able to feel it if you lay very still–and especially if you were small to begin with! 🙂
