Hello 09/17 bees! Its exciting to see where everyone else is in the process. The Fiance and I currently have our planner, venue, church, photographer, DJ, a flourist and my dress. We also just bought our bands because a jewler near us was having a clearout event. I am now looking at transportation (which is surprisingly expensive!) and a ceremony violinist.
I am meeting with the planner next week to start looking at details 🙂 I am doing little by little so that it is more affordable!

After seeing where everyone else was we got on it! We’re planning from 4 hours away, but we made appointments for a weekend in August with a planner, photographer and DJ. We aren’t having a florist so that cuts that out. We’re also going to pick out engagement photo outfits at our favorite store we don’t have in our city. (FI’s lost 50 lbs recently so he doesn’t have anything that fits really well.)

Oh wow… you ladies are on top of things. We are having a destination wedding/elopement and I just have a provisional booking for the location (which comes with catering, wedding cake and accommodation/transport). I know which photographer/cinematographer I want but I don’t feel like booking them more than 6 months before the wedding when I can actually book their flights. I am starting to think it might be too late ! I might wait until this fall to be at M-12 to book photo and videoat the same time as the full booking for the venue and co.

We got engaged September 2015. We were able to put a “courtesy hold” on our venue in April (18 months out from the wedding date) and if the venue (Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, WI) is not able to book a convention or larger event by our one-year-out date, then we are issued a contract and the date is ours. So I only have about a month left before we get to sign a contract and hand over a deposit.
We’ve looked into other vendors and are pretty much decided on things like photographer and DJ, but no contracts signed or money handed over yet. Waiting to lock in the venue first.
Besides that, I’ve not looked at dresses (I’m an athlete and my weight fluxuates), I probably will just get farmer’s market flowers, and haven’t really looked into other vendors yet – but part of that is we’re planning the wedding in a location that is 350 miles away. So, I do eventually want to book appointments to meet with vendors that we may use from that area, but haven’t done those things yet.
We also haven’t annouced who our wedding party is. We’ve planned it out, but decided not to tell anyone until one year before.

hbach83 : We’re about 300 miles away from where we’re getting married. We’re going there in a couple weeks and have as many appointments as we can in 3 days. We’re already finding a lot of vendors are booked. I sent emails to 5 of every vendor 2 weeks ago and was lucky to find 1 of each that wasn’t booked yet. My weight also fluctuates but mine is due to medical issues, so I’m having mine custom made and let them know ahead of time, it’s only my stomach I have issues with, so I’m hoping they can do an elastic wait or something that can be covered by a belt or material.
asobos : We’re asking a friend to officiate, and I’ve been to nervous to ask him! He’s getting ready to propose himself and I’m worried his Girlfriend will flip or talk him out of it. But knowing her they’ll get married way before us. She’s in baby mode already.

Made a good bit of progress the past week! Waiting for a contract from the photobooth (our first choice was already completely booked and they have 3!) our second choice only has 1 left! Everytime I think I’m big time on top of things I get a reality check!
I also talked to my best friend from college today and asked him to be our officiant! After he got over the initial shock, he was so honored and excited! He was the first person both Fiance and I thought of so I’m just so touched he agreed!
FI’s dad also came by today and told us they want to pay for the rehersal dinner/drinks and several K on top of that towards the wedding. We knew he contributed some to his step-sibblings weddings, but didn’t know it was that much! Fiance will be a few months shy of 30 so we weren’t really expecting much contribution from his parents.

- Wedding: September 2017 - The Meadows
whoami : Sounds like you got a lot done in the past week! It’s always much nicer to have it done earlier rather than later.
This weekend was a pretty productive one for the wedding. Asked FI’s cousin who is a pastor to be our officiant, and he graciously accepted. I’m so happy. Then we asked another cousin if she would possibly video our ceremony(she’s a freelance videographer) and she got really excited about it. We also talked to her and Future Father-In-Law about making a giant book as a prop for the wedding. Might be some work, but it’s early so hopefully we can do it! 😉

areitz189 : I’m curious about the big book! What are you going to use it for?

- Wedding: September 2017 - Mississauga Convention Centre
We have our ceremony, priest, venue, flowers, decor, invitations, wedding cake, photographer and videographer hair, make-up, manicures, pedicures. We put a deposit on everything to save the date, closer to our wedding we will finalize the details.
I also purchased my gown, ordered bridal party, mothers and grandmothers gowns.

We have our venue, with catering, cake and bar; booked photographer; just bought my dress 🙂
Now we are looking at coordinators, DJ/live musicians, videography. We also need to book our engagement photo session and pick out outfits for that because I want to use those photos for our Save-The-Date Cards.
When are you guys sending out save the dates??

honeyBee17 : Finding a DJ is so hard! I keep looking but all I can find are those posting about themselves, no-one actually recomennding anyone! Struggling with that part!
I think January time? I don’t want to do it too late or early I want to make sure people are aware and I feel that’s a decent amount of time. When were you thinking?

What is booked:
Venue, Catering, Photographer, Day of Coord
DJ (just waiting on a contract)
Next on the list:
I also did some preliminary dress shoping, but I’d like to lose more weight and then purchase online. So I’ll be putting that off for a while. Officiants seem to be overpriced for the ones I can find. One quoted me “around $1k”, so I was a bit floored haha.

We got engaged in May, and so far have only booked our venue (this will also be the ceremony site, and includes catering and planner/coordinator), and I bought my dress a few weeks ago. I have been feverishly looking at photographers the last few weeks but I’m really picky about quality while also not wanting to break the bank, so it’s been frustrating. However I have yet to have a single person tell me they are already booked on our date, which is encouraging. I’m sure it helps that we’re getting married the Friday before Labor Day.
We will get our flowers through Whole Foods since I used to work there and my fiancé still does so we can get a 20% discount, which will be huge. I already have a DJ in mind and have contacted him but haven’t set up a meeting.
Once I get the major stuff down I think I’ll have a little time to breathe before the REAL craziness begins 🙂

We just booked our DJ last Friday and then this coming Friday we are booking our venue! Hopefully in a few weeks we can book our photographer. We basically have everything planned, we are just saving the money to make our deposits. It sounds like some of you ladies already have your dresses! I was thinking of going dress shopping in November or maybe December even. But I don’t know if that’s “too late”?
