@nerdwife12:  If the bride and groom have no issue with using the photographer THEY pay for to take a family portrait to be used as a Christmas card, why would you?

It is a very rare occurrence to have everyone together looking their best with a professional photographer at your disposal unless you are a Kardashian. We asked our photographer to take family portraits of my SIL and her family.

Wear the colour or don’t, but not sure why you feel the need to question or judge how the pictures will be used.

@SeaSalt:  I didn’t read anything in her post that was judging the decision. OP just seems curious. OP, I have no idea why she would say that. I’ve never heard of people using weddings for this purpose, but if she’s already done it before, she’s likely to do it again!

Probably a wedding dress code. She might want everyone to be in sea of blue or the room covered in reds. I think it’s a cool idea.

@nerdwife12:  Then assume it is, and dress accordingly.

Um, I would just take this to be dress code.

I would take this as a “dress code”…which I’d be annoyed with. She really shouldn’t be telling adults what they can and cannot wear.

My hair stylist was telling me about a wedding she went to recently where the bride & groom asked everyone to either wear black or white.  It was a Madonna themed wedding.  She said it ended up being really cool.  Maybe it’s something like that.

If a bride was giving me a dress code, I’d laugh. No bride is going to tell me what I can and cannot wear.

@ImaStarr:  +1. I would just assume the colors go with her theme/wedding. I didnt write a dress code on my invites because where I’m from everyone shows up cocktail hr attire (semi-formal). However, I did get numerous phone calls/emails/FB from guests asking me what were my wedding colors. It was strange to me but I just said shades of pink.
