@monkeyinasuit:  With you on this….. I too love yellow gold n with my West  Indian heritage, yellow gold is far more common n accepted but in Toronto white gold / platinum is in high demand n most popular amongst the community of women I know.

I think yellow gold says I’m more traditional when it comes to bridal jewelry. My parents and grandparents all had YG. I wanted it for my rings too.

All of my very best diamond pieces were inherited, and set in yellow gold, specifically designed by my grandmother, so, in an effort to “get back to my roots” I decided on a yellow gold engagement and wedding set. Also, my husband prefers the traditional look of yellow gold.

Since getting engaged last fall, I’ve had most of my white gold pieces re-set into yellow gold.

i will say, I am probably in the minority…I prefer the smoother more lemony look of 10 or 14kt gold…18, 22, 24 all look too brassy for me. Some of my best pieces come from Turkey and Kuwait, 24kt gold, and I honestly hardly ever wear them because they look too “costumey” to my eye.

I’m allergic to yellow gold Frown. That’s the only reason I don’t wear it, because I can’t.

I prefer yellow gold. All my jewelry is yellow gold (the pieces I got from my grandma and my FI) except my ering, that’s white gold. He apparently ‘didn’t remember’ that I prefer yellow gold. Sucks because I now I have all this beautiful jewelry I can’t wear anymore. (Yes, I’m an odd duck but I just can’t stand having different metals on. Makes me feel like I haven’t put myself together.)

I didn’t care either way I like both yellow and white… and rose too! DH just happened to pick out a ring in white gold. His ring is yellow gold, it looked best on him. He’s more tan than I am and it looks much better than white gold. Idk why.

I Love yellow gold. I thinks it looks classic and elegant. It looks amazing on almost every skin tone too. If my husband would have asked me what I wanted I would have had him get me golden ring, but he chose my ring all on his own

I’m allergic to pretty much everything except 24k gold, its ridiculous. I can’t wear 18k or silver or even rose gold without getting horrible contact dermatitis. I used to love jewelery but not being able to wear anything at all really put a stop to that years ago. Thankfully, I’m Indian and my parents/grandparents have literally been giving me gold jewelery as birthday/graduation gifts my entire life so I do have many options but it doesn’t always go with everything =(

Not engaged yet (BF and I are waiting for an Amora) but my ring will be either 24k gold or palladium (it’s hypoallergenic).

I used to think yellow gold was tacky, but I think it was mostly because of the 80’s design of most of the rings in yellow I had seen. I always thought I would get white gold, but I went to a vintage shop and fell in love with the style of my ring. Now I love that it’s yellow, it feels unique and super tradional at the same time, and all the women in my family have yellow as well so I feel like part of a club!
