There is absolutely no overlap in our diet. He still eats like a college kid and I eat gluten-free, local, organic pollo-pescetarian.

This is interesting, I’ve honestly never sat and thought about what our differences are.

-I’m basically Type A all the way and SO is Type B.

-SO likes things neat & clean and would have the whole house perfect most of the time if she could. I’m messy. I’ll 100% admit it lol I lay things around and put them away later, I’ll leave a few dishes in the sink to do the next day, laundry in the dryer until I need it. I’m quite sure it drives SO nuts.

-SO is very very introverted. I’m right in the middle but I’m more outgoing and personable.

-We have VERY different movie tastes. SO would watch war movies and action packed crap all the time and I love chick flicks!

Those are probably the biggest differences we have. We’re more similar than I thought we were initially. & I always thought I’d end up with someone that was very very different from me. I guess opposites don’t always attract!

Something that I REALLY appreciate about my guy is that we’re both total homebodies.  Even in college I had friends telling me I was an old lady because I love to just stay in.   I get out every now and then but I’m not the girl that goes out every.single.weekend.

I dated guys for years that had to be out constantly – it’s SO nice that my Fiance and I love to have pizza nights and stay in and watch movies.  We can be a couple of bores together 🙂

we have sports in common though we support different teams, I think it’s good for us to have differences so I don’t especially wish I had an interest in the stuff he likes, he loves video games, music and media. We like completely different films and music, which is just fine by me. Personality wise, not just interests we’re very different too but hey it works!

He loves baseball and golf – he plays in a recreational softball league and goes golfing at least once a month.  I know he wants to go more often, but he doesn’t have the time.  I only watch baseball when he’s home and it’s on the TV, and the only time I’ve golfed is on the company golf tournament (which is really just a round of ‘whackfuck’).

I read a fair amount and I write and work on stories in my spare time.  He doesn’t get it – not a reader – and I’ve given up trying to explain it to him.  If I give him the ‘elevator pitch’, he gives me a funny look, like I’m nuts or something.

We do have a fair bit in common though.  We’re both geeky/nerdy, into video games and Star Wars, and Star Trek and comic book stuff.  He said one of the reasons why he contacted me (we met through an online dating site) was because I mentioned keeping my GBA on my person almost all the time.

@trueblue14:  Sounds like me and my Fiance. Thank God we have a lot in common too!

@thejucheidea:  That has to be frustrating. My Fiance won’t eat ANY vegetables and I’m torn on whether I should keep trying to get him to, or just give it up. I want him to do it for his health, not to be controlling.

@msaperry:  Funnily enough, sports often seems to be a divisive issue, but Darling Husband and I are equally into Australian Rules football. We watch every single game and both play fantasy football. He also plays at an amateur level and I work for his team!

Our big ones – he loves video games and they bore me shitless. I’m an avid reader, he only reads non-fiction every once in a while. I vote left wing, he votes right. He listens to a range of music – metal, rock, indie, rap – whereas I only really like metal and 90s industrial and alternative (like, Nine Inch Nails). Most importantly, he’s a procrastinator, and I have obsessive-compulsive disorder. He also has an anxiety disorder, though, so while he doesn’t exactly understand my specific illness, he gets the general idea.

hm! we actually both love video games, good movies of any genre, the same tv shows, picked up each others’ tastes in both food and music… I guess our main difference would be in the way we like to be touched. I LOVE soft, ticklish touches, it feels really pleasant for me and makes my scalp tingle. but he’d jump at anything close to being a soft touch, and I really need to be firm with him haha. he’s one of the most ticklish people I’ve ever known, I mean I accidentally set him off at least once a day…

oh, and before he used to really be bothered by sharing food, almost like a food-aggressive dog? lol. but he’s much better now, since he got used to me always nabbing things off his plate bahaha. also, he hates trying new food, while I want to try everything on the menu at least once. everytime we go back to the same restaurant he’ll order the same thing, whereas I’ll try to order something I’ve never had before.

@msaperry:

  • He loves some sports, I’ve never been into any sport.
  • He plays video games
  • He is a picky eater, I’ll eat almost anything that’s edible.
  • But dirt does not bother him, I hate dirty messes.
  • He can’t carry a tune.
  • He’s more into nature than I am and he can go on walks for miles. I don’t have that kind of energy.
  • And he’s a lot more outgoing than I am

But other than that, people say we’re very similar.

@BlondeMissMolly:  FH is very easygoing, and I like to have plans and control over situations. I actually like that about him because he relaxes me!

This! It does grate on me sometimes because I’ll want to know a sleeping/bathroom/etc. situation when we travel and he’s like, “We’ll figure it out.” Uh, no, I need to know now. I need to know that I can wash my hair and face and not have to fight 15 people for the bathroom.

I’m a picky eater, he’s not.

He LOVES Tool/APC/etc., and I really cannot stand them.

He never spends money.
