Mine were eating Purina One indoor weight control.

Then, my boy got very skinny and sickly and was diagnosed with diabetes.  Now he needs to be on a low/no carb,  low/no gluten diet.  This means either Purina DM kibbles or cans, or Fancy Feast classic pates.

The others still eat the Purina One indoor weight control, or Max Cat indoor weight control, though now I’m doing a better job of controlling how much they eat so hopefully they won’t end up getting sick like their buddy did.

If you have to get a fancy type of food, be sure to do some internet research, I found a better price online than at my vet.

Good luck with your kitties!

Our kitties (and our pup) all eat Taste of the Wild like FutureDrAtkins kitty. This is the only food that doesn’t bother their tummies or give them itchy skin.

My kitty eats Purina’s healthy weight food. I tried converting her to an all natural and grain free food, but she seriously picked out all the new food and ate only the old food when we started to introduce it. After two days she started throwing up, so I caved and made a food run for her. Guess she likes her grains.

NurseMandie:  I always recommend the Costco brand food. My whole life my parents have been feeding this to their cats, and they have been incredibly healthy. One lived to be almost 20! It’s sold in large bags and is a very good price for the nutritional value. My kitties are eating it as well and are not only very healthy, but also EXTREMELY energetic. I hope your girl gets better soon!

Meow mix! For indoor kitties. I have a very healthy 13lb cat and a very healthy 3.35lb kitty. They both started on Science Diet! It was much more expensive so we took them off but that is what they feed them at the Humane Society. I want to eventually try and put them on healthier food though so I want to follow this.

They also get 1/3 of a can if wet food a night. Cat gets fancy feast and kitty gets science diet. I put extra water in my cats wet good since they tend to not drink as much water and it is important.

We feed them Science Diet, and we have 9 cats.  They all eat it and do really well on it.  We used to do other foods and we noticed a huge difference in activity level and how soft their coats were.  Science Diet does come in huge bags, I can guarantee it!  I buy 22LB bags once a week.

NurseMandie:  Poor Snookie! My boy eats Fancy fest in gravy only half in the morning half at night. I tried all the good for them brands and he turned his nose up at all of it (litterally every brand). He got sick too a few months back and dropped a ton of weight and was dehydrated but was turning down water. So my vet told me to give him the water from tuna cans because he was being so stuborn!  just make sure you by the tuna or chicken in water not oil. It also helped put some of the weight back on. Good luck with your kitty i hope she feels better soon!

I have tried to feed our cat the organic all meat kibble from Whole Foods, but she will turn up her nose at anything that isn’t Friskies Surfin’ and Turfin’ Favorites. Oh well, what can you do…
