Initially wanted something like this:
but ended up stumbling across this and fell in love. I couldn’t get it out of my head, but the setting was a lot pricier than my original style choice, so I showed my then boyfriend both and let him pick. So glad he chose the one he did! They’re super similar, but the small side stones are what I love most!
I thought I would love this emerald cut:
But in real life it did not have much sparkle, and I ended up with this one:
I originally wanted a retro or art deco ring, maybe with two tone metals like (some of) these. I ended up with an emerald cut! My grandma gave us her engagement ring, so that was incredibly special and I LOVE that I carry a little piece of her with me, especially since she didn’t live to make it to the wedding. I love that she was able to be with us for the engagement, though. Forgive the nails lol.
I originally wanted an Emerald Engagement Ring but my now husband is pretty traditional and didn’t want to get a colored stone. So he had me make a list of about 5 rings that I liked and he chose the one he liked best. I loved it and he got me the Emerald for our 1st anniversary. Now for our 10th anniversary he’s getting me an upgrade it will be a 3 stone ring and again I have him my top choices and he will pick what he likes best.
I originally made many hints for a round cut center diamond with a micro-halo. I fell in love with that style and only that style many years before even meeting my fiancee. LOL! But he surprised me with a princess cut center diamond, with a baguette halo. I always make comments to make him feel good about his selection. Most times, I look at the ring and think of how it represents our love and future marriage. Also, I think of how proud he is of making a great ring choice and how much he shows his love to me. After some time, I actually like the style of ring that he got for me better!
So I was leaning towards a round yellow gold halo with a plain shank, kind of like this
What I ended up getting
Cushion center stone on a diamond side stone band!
