I added a lace jacket, because I always wanted long lace sleeves, but fell in love with a strapless dress.

I changed a lot, and most of it was DIY.  I got rid of the sleeves, added a lot of beading around the shoulders, I also added a beaded applique to the front and a sash that tied in the back, as well as a detachable train!

Here’s the before, on the model:

And the dress on the big day!  Don’t have my pro pics yet so guest shots will have to do…

I didn’t wear the belt and had a lace bolero made. Loving seeing how people customised their dresses 🙂

kfreiss:  I switched out the belt and added silk buttons down the back. I was between two dresses and one was WAY more comfortable, but I was hung up on the belt and the buttons on the other dress – thankfully it was pointed out to me that we could just bring those elements over onto the comfier dress and then I was sold. I honestly had a mini meltdown that my wedding dress HAD to have those stupid buttons or it wouldn’t feel like a real wedding dress lol. We all have our weird things…

The back. I’m having it altered from keyhole to open back. Also having cups sewn in.

I had cups put in and I had the train removed. And it was hemmed of course. But otherwise I didn’t make any other changes!

And it looked perfectly amazing with and without! Did your husband know it was going to be black ?  Was he blown away? . I expect he  was as  it is so beautiful.

Having straps was a must for me. So here’s the dress without the detachable straps:

With the straps:

I bought the belt I tried on with it, so I’m debating adding it or not:

I think I’m going to add buttons down the back of mine, it’s the one feature that my dress doesn’t have that I really wanted!
