My wedding is a little over a week away and so far we have had a lot of bumps. It took me forever to find a MUA/hairstylist and i finally found one a month and a half ago. Then 3 weeks ago she said she flaked out on me and I could not find anyone with availablity for my date who would come to the hotel. Luckily, when I went home for my bridal shower I went to MAC with my cousin and we did a trial which turned out amazing so she is going to do my hair and make up instead. And lets not forget the family/no kids drama with my sister that I posted about before.
Then there were the linens and chair covers for the ceremony that I ordered from weddingstogo/posh events rental back in March that I paid for but will not receive and have yet to get my money back. Now we are stuck with the basic linens that the venue provides because I could not find any place nearby to rent them for less than $25 a table which was more than we wanted to spend, especially since we lost the money on the original linens.
As I was giving my venue my final guest count and menu I mentioned the chiavari chairs we were renting for the reception (that I was very excited about and had already put a deposit on) and was told that it was “against their policy to allow outside chairs”. When we signed the contract they gave us their very extensive policies, which I read in detail since I am an attorney, and there was no mention of such a policy. When I pointed this out to them, they claimed that they didnt put everything on the contract because it would be to long and no one would read it. Really? -_- I had to go a little Zilla on them before they finally said they did not have anywhere to put all of their chairs if I brought in outside chairs. Luckily I was able to get the deposit back for my chairs or they would have had to deduct it from my balance. Now we have to have chair covers for the reception and I am not really happy about it but whatever.
Next we have a wedding band problem. We went looking for band 3 months ago and found what we liked and got quoted great prices. My fiance, who takes forever to decide on anything, wanted to wait and keep looking. Fast forward to three weeks ago and many threats to him to go and buy the bands already. He orders the bands and we were supposed to pick them up last Friday and Thursday they call and say they cant honor the price they gave him because it was too low and they wont make a profit. Of course we refuse to pay this (mainly on principle) and have to search for another place. Well aparently, most places have to order platinum bands and only one place could get what we wanted on time and its going to cost us $1,500 more than we originally planned to pay. Oh and we leave for the wedding Thursday November 1 and the rings will be in October 30 or 31st. I am freaking out!
So today I find out that hurricane Sandy caused substantial damage to the resort we are going to for our honeymoon and they are suspending new arrivals until Novemer 2. We are supposed to be there November 4. Can you imagine the stress? And they reporting that Sandy is going to cause a huge storm to hit the east coast Monday and Tuesday. Did I mention we leave Thursday morning?
Oh yea and my guest are dropping like flies! We had at least 10 people who rsvp’d yes call and say they cant make it for various reasons.
I know all of these things are not the end of the world, but it is making me wonder what else can go wrong. Did anyone else go through anything similar in the weeks leading up to their wedding?

Good lord. I have no stories of wisdom, I just wanted to stop in and give virtual *hugs* to you! I would have thrown a fit about the chivari chair incident. I mean , come on, its NOT in the contract and their “response” is just terrible. I’m so sorry and just know that everything will work out and you and your Fiance will have an AMAZING wedding!!

Wow, that sucks! I wish I could give you some good advice, but all I can think of is, “If you’re going through hell, keep going!”
And I believe I’d have told that venue that I know of at least ONE good place they could stick their chairs…

Oh wow, sounds like it’s been incredily stressful – I am all for you having a really long bubble bath, with a good book and a glass of wine.
*hugs* I hope you catch a really lucky break, and that if you have to go elsewhere for your honeymoon that it turns out to be the best surprise of your wedding planning that you ended up there by luck!

I feel like I’m in the same boat as you!
My hairdresser completely flaked got drunk while doin my hair and almosfriend my whole head off…time to persue new hair dresser 3 months before wedding and do major damage control!
First make up artist- cancelled a month and a half out conference came up and can no longer be here. Find new artist. Double booked my date and cancelled on me 2 weeks prior to wedding. Find new make up artist while visiting bare essentials thank god!
Now onto the hurricane….a bunch of my family works for electric, gas or flood clean up companies so I’ve started to get the calls if storm hits so and so won’t be there. Um great final numbers have to be in next week!
Then the problem with seating charts- my Fiance sister doesn’t like that I sat her and her kids with her sister and her kids. Really? I want to sit with my sister if I was going to a wedding! She put up a big stink about it but place cards are done I’m not moving her!
speaking of seating our chair cover lady is a complete flake and probably won’t show up! she takes about ten mon this to respond to anything I ask her and she never got the chair covers I had requested in my contract and that she promised me she would have!
Oh ya did I mention last year during Irene we had no power for 8 days? Even though this is suppose to hit early in the week I’m a little freaked we won’t have power!s
besides the people who might not make it due to the hurricane there’s a good 10 people we haven’t even heard from yet! I’m guessing they aren’t coming but with my luck they will show up hi here’s an extra table for ten at $150 a person! Oyyyy
so I definitely feel for you! I’m trying not to let it bother me too much and let it just happen. But now I’m sick and just want to lay in bed and do nothing all day. But I can’t last few days of work and lots of wedding stuff to get together! Happy wedding day in 8 days! No matter what happens I’m sure it will still be a great day!

That is a lot of things going on!
It sounds like a lot of them are solved but you still have the emotional exhaustion from fixing them. Best wishes & I hope it all turns out alright.
And have you looked at Blue Nile for platinum wedding bands? I was looking there and the prices are good & I assume they would ship right away.

Yep, 9 days out I had my melt-down- wasn’t pretty.
It *WILL* all come together. Do you have travel insurance for your honeymoon? If you didn’t order your bands, Blue Nile is worth a look (where we got my band.)
