I mean aside from music of course!
Our reception will be pretty standard with dinner/drinks/a band or DJ, but I also feel like I want something else going on. I don’t want people to ever be bored, and I don’t want their only options to be: sit or dance. However, I’m also not the type to have games or anything, so that’s out!
Any ideas bees? Something along the lines of a photobooth/magician/caricaturist/etc but obviously other ideas! Something to keep guests entertained/having fun when they may not feel like dancing or sitting down.
What are you all having at your lovely receptions? What have you seen done at others? 🙂
OH and before I offend anyone: I definitely don’t think dancing and eating is boring, I’ve never been bored at a wedding like that, I just want a little added fun of some sort!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
We are going to have a photobooth which should be pretty fun! It might also be nice to have stuff on the table… like you can put a few cards/fill in the blank sheets asking people to write advice for you both, an interactive guestbook that’s more than just signing your name (thumbprint, letters in a bottle, mad libs, etc.), maybe even board games or cards. For the most part though I think people have fun just talking to each other too!

Mrs. Castle just posted about trivia and videos they did at the reception. Very cute idea!

We’re not doing much for a few reasons. I personally am not a fan of games and entertainment at weddings. Nothing against those who like them but at weddings, during the down time, I like catching up with people I haven’t seen in a while. And I’m a dancing queen. There’s nothing I dislike more than having a good time on the dancefloor and being interrupted to watch the “shoe game”. Finally, right now I’m so over the wedding planning that I don’t have the energy nor imagination to think of something 😉
Fiance is putting on a slideshow/trivia, a bit like Mrs. Castle. For the last 4 years, we’ve been living in remote communities in the middle of nowhere, so he wants to give people a taste of what our life is like here. That’s his little project!

We’re having an illusionist. It’s an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding… so it fits, and this way we have a great reason to keep speeches short 😉
Also a good way to avoid family drama.

We’re having an ice cream truck come!! We’re also having a little temporary tattoo station with tattoos with our monogram, and a few funny ones too (dinosaurs and finger mustaches).

@goodgenie: This (minus your slideshow/trivia ;)). GTFO my dance floor!

The band? If that counts! Just music and dancing. No fears here that it won’t be “enough” entertainment. “If you don’t dance than they ain’t no friend of mine!”

I went to a carnival theme’d wedding and they had an Elvis Impersonator as the entertainment, a photobooth, caraciturist and also a clown who did balloon animals. It was totally original and a blast!
