The only thing we had was a rehearsal dinner. Since most of our friends and family were all over the country, we couldn’t really have any other events.

We had a destination wedding, so we did things a little differently. My a bridal shower was hosted in the city where I live. Most of my close family made it to that, since they don’t travel very well. It was the only time I got to spend with them celebrating the wedding.
Once we got to Jackson Hole, two nights before the wedding we had a Welcome Cocktail Party, hosted by friends for everyone at the wedding. It was just a cocktail party outside on a patio in town, where everyone could stop by and grab a drink and say hi. Followed by a night on the town for anyone wanting to go out and party. Then our rehearsal dinner was the night before the wedding and every single person attending the wedding was there. It was a casual relaxed BBQ where everyone had a chance to catch up and get to know each other before the wedding. By the time the wedding came around, everyone felt like old friends!

We did Engagement Party, Bridal Shower, Bachelorette Party and Rehearsal Dinner. We did an Engagement Party so that my parents and his parents could meet. The Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party were on the same day. And the Rehearsal Dinner was so that we could welcome some of our Out of Town guests to Toledo. The best part is we didn’t host any of them, lol. My mom did the engagement party. My sister and mom did the bridal shower and bachelorette party. And his mom did the rehearsal dinner.

I really didn’t want a Bridal Shower but my Maid/Matron of Honor insisted on it and it was really nice. It was a very casual lunch at P.F. Changs. Just the girls.
The rehearsal dinner was okay. I think my nerves started to kick in then because it was so close.
Out of the two I really enjoyed the bridal shower. (appletini’s anyone?)
Wow! 2012! Congrats!!

All we missed out on was an engagement party. I didn’t know those existed until long after we were engaged!

When I get married I want to have all the events except I want a bridal shower but no bachelorette party. I’m really not that wild. I will allow however my fiance and his friends to have a bachelor party that would be cool.

Despite my repeated protests, I had a bachelorette party and a bridal shower. I”m thankful for them now, but at the time, I really didn’t want them.

I had 2 showers (one thrown by my MOH/BM and one by my MIL). We also had a rehearsal dinner and a co-Bachelor/ette party that was awesome. We had a guys vs. girls scavenger hunt/road rally and then a big bar night all together with all our friends. It wasn’t a traditional Bachelorette, but it was totally me!

I plan on having a bachelorette and my BMs want to throw me a bridal shower. His parents are doing the rehearsal dinner and the day after brunch. I am excited for the Rehearsal Dinner but I dont care AT ALL about the day after brunch!

Wow Jessie that scavenger hunt sounds super fun! Maybe I should convince my friends that this would be a great idea! I know the fella isn’t really looking forward to a typical “bucks night”! We had an engagement party and I know my girls will want to throw a shower – although here we call it a Kitchen Tea. So that’ll be fun!
We don’t really do rehearsal dinners here either so I don’t think we’ll do that.

I chose what we will be doing, since we haven’t had all of them yet. FI’s parents gave us a very nice engagement party in their hometown. My mom’s best friend is giving me a shower with the “church ladies” despite my hesitation, since we are only inviting a handful of friends from church. I don’t anticipate having a bachelorette party, but my Maid/Matron of Honor is planning a ladies luncheon the day before the wedding that I guess is a lot like another shower but with no gifts. FI’s parents are hosting a rehearsal dinner for immediate family and the wedding party. We’re not having a day-after brunch since our reception IS brunch! Though we are having an after party (“evening celebration” is what we’re calling it) with finger foods, drinks and dancing the night of the wedding. We’re blessed to have so many parties!
I can’t really answer your question about my favorite since we’ve only had one, but I will say I loved our engagement party way more than I thought I would! I sort of felt like although it was a very nice gesture, it wasn’t necessary, but it was really nice to celebrate with everyone without all the pressure and formality of the wedding day. It was great to be able to just enjoy everyone’s company without having to plan it! It was so kind of FI’s parents to do.
