Hello Bee’s, hope someone can help me out here:
I am getting my dress made by a dressmaker. The dress will be inspired by the Stella York 5608.

I have asked two dressmakers and they have both given different answers – one says they will make it with Organza, and the other says Silk Chiffon?
I have to say that I am leaning towards the silk chiffon, just because I love how soft and flowy this dress looks – but I don’t know fabrics all that well and I don’t want it to turn out “floppy” looking either.
Thanks in advance!

@sukidoll: Looks like chiffon. Organza is stiffer and has a sheen to it.

I did a quick GOOGLE for you… and found this Website that advertises the Original… it says the dress is constructed from “Soft Organza”… so that is what I would choose.

Hope this helps,
EDIT TO ADD – You can zoom in on the Dress on the above website to see details. And you’ll find that Organza is a “blanket” name for the fabric… it comes in a variety of blends. I would assume that a good dressmaker would be able to help you with swatches to see the differences (and no doubt price points too)

Hi girls, thanks so much for your replies.
@This Time Round I didn’t know that it was a blanket name for fabrics!
@Bridebee13 your dress looks beautiful, soft and flowy.
I decided to go with the person that said they would make it in silk chiffon, unfortunately I don’t think they did – the ruffles look a lot stiffer. But it’s ok in the end I am still going to use the dress for something.
