I say it’s your cake, pick your favorite. My fiance and I are doing a vanilla cake with rasberry filling as that’s our favorite. Though my sister had a differnt flavor for each layer, which was popular.

We just went with marble (which is really pretty, when you cut into it) and banana for the tier we take home.  YUMMY Laughing

We’re having five tiers and a groom’s cake. Two tiers of my home-made rich fruit cake (which is SO not like the dry rubbish you get from the shops), one tier rich dark chocolate and the smallest two tiers white chocolate and lemon. Then his cake is toffee.

Ours is Italian wedding cake with a Bavarian cream filling.  It’s going to be awesome.  The groom’s cake is even better, though…  Chocolate Kahlua with raspberry cream.  Om nom nom.

I’m hungry for cake after reading all these comments! In Haiti you can’t order your cake more than two months ahead of time, so we still haven’t ordered it yet. We’re going to have at least one tier chocolate, and the rest I will let him decide. 🙂

We had two flavors: lemon chiffon cake with alternating layers of raspberry preserves and mascarpone, and chocolate cake with pistachio mousse.

I was really into having a delicious cake, because bad wedding cake is always one of my biggest disappointments at a wedding.  I look forward to the cake all evening, and am sad when it turns out to be dry and tasteless.

I know everyone’s saying that since it’s your cake, you decide, but I think that having tiers is a great idea, because I’ve been to weddings where almost no one liked the cake. Lemon and white with raspberry filling weren’t terribly popular. So if you go with something less common, like any flavor filling, red velvet, or a fuit flavor (strawberry, banana, etc) try to make sure there’s another choice.

I know I want strawberry for sure though, my favorite! And probably marble or something too.
