I gave my fiance carte blanche with the cake flavors since Im not the biggest fan of cake.

Or at least I wasn’t… until we had our tasting with the most amazing baker.

After several eyes-rolling-back-in-head delicious bites, we settled on alternating layers of scratch-made dense almond cake with two layers of raspberry puree with white chocolate truffle buttercream, and dark chocolate ganache cake with two layers of raspberry puree with chocolate ganache, all covered in white chocolate truffle buttercream.

Lord help me. I’m still daydreaming about the tasting. I can’t wait to see this thing in action.

Love this thread!!!  I’m super excited about our cake…4 tiers.  from the bottom: white chocolate cake with choc chips and a dark chocolate truffle filling (yes, i <3 chocoate!), vanilla cake with tiramisu filling, chocolate cake with white chocolate truffle filling, lemon cake with lemon chiffon filling (FI loves lemon so had to get at least the small tier with something he likes!)

our cake tasting is next wkend, so we have not decided yet. But we are tossing between white chocolate, champagne, wedding white, and country vanilla. We initially thought about doing vanilla on bottom, chocolate in the middle and marble for the top tier..but the more I thought about how nasty its going to look once the chocolate layer is cut and mixes in with the vanilla, I dont think it will look to pleasing at all.

We are having cupcakes – a red velvet cutting cut on top with three different flavours of cupcakes; red velvet, banana and vanilla with chocolate icing.

We did cupcakes, and the FAVE by far was the coconut with coconut buttercream and key lime curd filling – who would have known?

We also had vanilla/vanilla, chocolate/chocolate, and red velevet/cream cheese

We are going with basic flavors. Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet and Carrot. The baker has a delicious frosting, which makes the basic cake flavors extraordinary!

we had our cake tasting yesterday, and the results are in!

1st tier – blush champagne

2nd tier – white chocolate

3rd tier – country vanilla

It was a hard choice because there were soo many flavors for us to taste (cue the sugar coma)!  Our baker also informed us yesterday that we dont need to save out top tier, as she bakes us a fresh sweetheart cake for our 1st anniversary. We chose marble for that one. YUM!
