i am a makeup lover and junkie, and I am doing my own makeup for my wedding. I have normal skin but some small dryer areas. What foundation are you all using? I use smashbox studio skin foundation here and there and it’s good, but it’s super matte…. i don’t like Estée Lauder double wear, it’s heavy and Cakey. A lot of people use mac studio fix fluid and I’ve tried it before as a daily foundation and hated it, but hear it’s really good for special events. I wanna try MUFE HD liquid or stick but hear terrible things even though they are top rated. I want a semi Matte semi satin/healthy glow foundation but having trouble finding one. BTW I am having a summer wedding ceremony outdoors and reception inside. So something that will hold up in the heat for a short period of time and then touch up good for photos and inside reception. Any suggestions from any other make up junkies out there? 🙂 thanks

I wore MAC pro longwear nourishing foundation for my wedding which performed perfectly. I generally wear MUFE HD or MUFE Water Blend when I know I will be photographed (e.g as a wedding guest). My personal favorite is MUFE Water Blend but it’s not for everyone since it’s really sheer coverage. All are great photo foundations. I think they perform really differently though and require different techniques of application so it’s worth getting samples from Sephora or Mac ahead of time to play with application techniques and wear at home.

Also Laura mercier setting powder is the best for bridal makeup!! Nothing works better imho.

I’ve tried high end, and I’ve tried low end. And for some reason, my go to foundations are still low end. Maybelline Matte and Poreless is my day-to-day, and their newer Dream Cushion line is what I wear for special occasions and date nights, and what I will be using for my wedding day. It’s been the best for me in coverage, and doesn’t break my face out, or cause excess oil.
ETA: I should also mention that I live deep down south. In the heart of summer, we get typically get temps in the upper 90s and humidity percentages in the upper 80s. Foundation is important here lol!

I wore Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24h for my wedding (and actually use it for all events where I need a long wearing foundation). I’ve tried a lot of foundations and this is one of the only long wearing ones that doesn’t look cakey and dry. It does have a matte finish (not ultra matte, but definitely not glowy or satin), but using a finishing spray like MAC Fix+ or Mario Badescu Facial Spray and some highlighter can fix that easily.
Also a note that it does have SPF which can cause white flash in photos. I personally haven’t experienced it but would obviously be a good idea to photograph whichever foundation you choose. Good luck!!

The Maybelline Matte & Poreless as suggested above is actually really good! Could you try samples from Sephora of some foundations to get an idea of what you’d like to use?
I tried a sample of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD liquid and I really liked it. It was lightweight and I’d say a medium coverage. I looovveee how NARS Sheer Glow looked on my skin, but my nose tends to get a bit oily, and it wears away from there after a few hours 🙁
I tried Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able, and it looks incredible – the tiniest amount has the most insane amount of coverage. It tends to cling to my dry patches though. In the end, I think I’m going with Tarte Rainforest of the Sea water foundation. It looks really natural and not cakey for me, and seems to last quite well. I really like the finish as well, and how the rest of my makeup sits on top of it.

I wore Dermablend, which I am thankful for now because it rained off and on that day and with all the crying, and hugs, it didn’t smudge at all!

I did my own makeup for our wedding and I wore MAC Studio Tech. It’s more of a cream which I really liked. I’m an addict to it now because it worked so well for me! It didn’t go anywhere on a hot summer day and photographed great! I will say it is more matte but I liked how it was buildable since I didn’t want to cover up my freckles.

Thanks everyone! I do have a list that I already planned on going to Sephora for samples for. MUFE HD was one of them, Lancôme teint idols was one, koh gen do aqua foundation, and I was going to try mac studio fix fluid.. I guess it’s just going to take a lot of samples and trials to see what works!! I appreciate all your advice

hd0430 : I looove the marc jacobs remarcable foundation, you should try it. You only need a very small amount of product for lighter coverage but it is buildable if you want full (and never feels heavy or cakey to me).

Another vote for Lancôme teint Ultra. I’ve worn it for weddings and used it for a bride at a summer beach wedding in Mexico. For my wedding I plan on using Armani Luminous silk. It lasts all day on me and looks beautiful, but I know it may not work with people with super oily skin.

Smashbox studio skin..I wore it to my outdoor engagement party that lasted for 5 hours in the Southern humidity and my foundation DID NOT budge. I plan to wear it to my wedding. It lasts 15 hours (only tested it up to 12 hours but I believe it will lasts 15), sweat resistant, transfer proof, and gives medium to full coverage while being light weight!

I recently discovered this and it’s amazing. I honestly don’t have anything I could compare the texture to. You have to feel it for yourself:

Can Lancome Teint Idole, which is my usual foundation anyway, be used in an airbrush machine?
My MUA said airbrushing is optional and I think I MAY prefer the look of airbrushing (will find out during my trial), but definitely know which formula works on my skin.
