MrsTeasandkeys:  It’s the name of Hemingway’s first wife and a minor character in the True Blood series of books (Sookie’s female counsin).  I’ve never heard of it being used for a boy.

i voted girl, i think a book i read recently had a female character hadley because the name feels a little familiar. but do what you want.

recently an aquantiance posted a pic of their new baby, Addison.  i was surprised to find it was a boy.

MrsTeasandkeys:  I would have to agree with the other Bee’s. Hadley in my opinion is more of a girls name. I heard of Hadley on True Blood, she is Sookie’s cousin (a fairy).

MrsTeasandkeys:  Never met a Hadley but I immediately associated it with Hailey and so I immediately thought girl.

MrsTeasandkeys: I read it as a boy’s name as it’s currently spelled.

If you spelled it Hadlee or Hadleigh it would read girl to me. It’s a lovely name and so unique!

Girl name. And according to the internet, it’s definitely a girls name. Granted, plenty of boy names are being used for girls, but it’s a bit more difficult to go the other way. I feel you on this though, I”m trying to name a boy and it has been REALLLY hard. Half of them have turned into girl names, the other half are old school, or too weird, or are cute for a little boy and not a man. Ugh

I’ve only heard Hadley on the show Parenthood, the daughter is named that. So, I associate it with a girl.

All I can think of is Hadley the place! It’s a small neighbourhood near me. But as a name… neutral but maybe more male than female. ..

It doesn’t sound like a name to me at all. It sounds like a mispronounced version of Haley. If I had to say, I’d vote “girl” because of that association.

MrsTeasandkeys:  OMG Darling Husband and I are having the same debate about the name Remy. I said it’s a boys name, and he likes it but only for a girl. MEN, I tell yah! I agree with you that Hadley sounds like a girl’s name.

I voted girl’s name, but it wouldn’t be weird as a boy’s name IMO. I do think girl when I first read/hear it though.
